Let me be the first here to say then that Flying sure beats working for a living...No, I'm not afraid to say it (even as I'm on a really lousy stand-up).

And that's the truth.

There in lies your problem SKY..... you do not debate... debate would infer that you are willing to listen, and by chance even modify your thoughts... that will not happen thus I would say your postings consist mainly of diatribes and your singular biased opinion. That said, that doesnt invalidate them for you or perhaps even others, but it hardly qualifies as debate.
On another note.... how is the new/old 150?

Maybe you could visit some career fairs? Seriously, if you want to fight for a cause, why not do it in person?
You could be like one of those guys that walk around with the fire and brimstone posters telling us to change our sinful aviation ways because an airline apocalypse is upon us.

Its true flying beats working but I would like to add that most can't make a living at it. Well maybe they can barely live but not have a life.
As mentioned before if we all could get our dream job at our desired home base the profession would be fantastic. Fat paychecks and long layovers at exotic locations are the carrots that tempted many into the sky. All the hardships must seem worthwhile when it is easy to see how you and your family is benefiting due to your profession
The reality for most however is not so good. Mediocre wages and miserable working conditions are becoming the norm industry wide and that is what this entire thread is about. Pilots receive as a large part of their compensation the fun that they are supposed to be having.
It is true that people will trade titles, fun and an interesting sounding job for actual compensation. Passengers don't care about the plight of pilots. If given the facts most would suggest that dissastified pilots should find another line of work.

as for the few mentions of highly paid pilots.. yes, the compensation level for some pilots is WAAY higher than the average american household income.... but how many of the 300,000 or so commercial pilots actually make $140k GROSS like freightpuppy described? (btw I am envious, Freightpuppy!) UPS, Fedex and Southwest only employ a very small fraction of the total number of active commercial pilots. I guess the POTENTIAL for very good income is there, but obviously there just aren't enough good high paying jobs for most of us.
