It is cut and dry. If your too stick to fly or too tired to fly, you DON'T FLY!!! You are breaking the rules by not standing up for yourself. Don't make an excuse and say, "You don't know how it is here". Plenty off us have been painted into that situation and some of us chose to do what is right not what is convenient for the company.

I gotta say, if you've been doing this long enough, eventually you will do the carpet dance for someone. I'm no saint mind you. Fell asleep at many an in-oportune time, but that was combat missions too. A bit different. Good luck with the management at that company.

Scary stuff, Joe. I don't know how I'd work in an environment like that, afraid for the sake of my job of screwing up, getting sick, admitting fatigue. Just out of curiosity, what "FAR LESS" infractions do people get canned for?

First of all I wear my own headset as to not "contaminate" the set on board. Second I always keep a huge stock of antibacterial wipes that I would use to wipe down as many things as I touched before leaving. Third if you've never worked at MAG then please keep your holier than thou comments to yourself. Its not so cut and dry. Oh and fourth I did move on to a better company.

I'll ask you a few questions.
1. Is flying sick illegal? Bottom line, YES! You're impaired! If something happens do your really want to spend hours, days, weeks and months trying to explain your reasoning for risking safety. Think about how the FAA will look at it.
2. If you call in sick and can prove it, will you loose your job? NO, if so you have one hell of a lawsuit for wrongful termination.
3. Do you need the money? Probably but you need your career more.
4. What are you trying to prove? You have nothing to prove except that you can provide for yourself, your family and your future. It's your life not your companies.
Keep in mind, THAT'S WHAT RESERVES ARE FOR! And if they don't have the reserves then that's their problem.
Do you think, down the road, when you need something your company will think of all those days you went the extra mile for them? NO! Don't get me wrong, when I'm fit to work and at work I will go the extra mile for myself, my crew, my passengers and my company; and in that exact order.
Don’t worry about it and don’t abuse it, you’ll be just fine.
