We have been trying to get CRJ-900s on property at PSA for a while now. Management has agreed to pay us more, but evidently the union is asking for an unreasonable figure. If the union can ever come to a mutually agreed figure with the company, we will get the 900's and Mesa will be no more with the 900 flying for US Airways. I hope we get them. Seeing Mesa lose more flying and us gain more would be great.

I just did some looking on US Airways.com. I believe what I found will prove my point.
The fare (coach) from DFW to CLT is $248 round trip. Then I put in several outstations the we, Mesa, Air Wisconsin, etc fly to in the CRJ's (CHS, SAV, to name just a few). The round trip fares to those places was the exact same or even less in some cases! And these destinations required a connection in Charlotte. So essentially, the customer is getting a free leg from Charlotte to their destination.
As long as mainline charges these low fares, there is no room to pay these higher wages the union is asking for. If PSA doesnt get the money from mainline, what can they do? If they don't have it, they don't have it. Instead of just begging for more pay, the union should fight to raise ticket prices and then everything will fall in place. More revenue = more pay. If they continue to choose to charge these ridiculously low fares, then we will continue to recieve lower pay. However, there is a company that will always do it cheaper, so what do you do?

How much revenue does that first class real estate in the front of the Delta 900s provide! Think about it that way.
Either way, FOs are STILL going to Mesa to fly that thing for terrible wages. With the current job market I cannot for the life of me understand why pilots apply to work at Mesa Airlines.

The companies don't have any problem raising ticket prices when fuel goes up to cover their additional cost. Just last week AA raised prices $20 roundtrip and the rest of the industry followed. You deserve to be better compensated for your skills, the same way mainline pilots were compensated 40 years ago when they flew 75 seat DC-9-10's.
Here's a little news flash for you, the ONLY reason the regional's are doing the flying is they do it cheaper than mainline, but if regional's did not exist 75 seat airplanes would still be flying on the same routes paying much higher rates.
