Default ASA New hires

What determines whether a new hire will go to the -200 or -700? Is it time, experience, or just seniority within the class?

Most everyone is going to the 200, there are 4 each month going to the ATR, no 700 spots have been avaliable to new hires in the past few months, the 200 has about a month rserve time righ now the ATR about 3-4 months....

Are trips to Mexico and the Caribbean senior? Not that it matters, just another crazy question that popped into my head. I am trying to decide between RAH and ASA.

the trips in the 200 international as of now are Freeport Bahamas, sometimes Nassau, Monterrey Mexico, Toronto, Montreal ......that changes time to time, the 700 does Nassau, Turks , Puerto Rico, Belize , and Cancun....there may be more but not sure 100% and no they arent all always senior...

The 70 is a such a novelty airplane. Long reserve and people will transition ahead of u off the 50. The pay is maybe barely more if not the same. The ticket is on the 50. Company tells us the ATR's will be gone by september next year but you know how that goes. Don't request the 70 just because it's bleeds automatically transfer, it has leading edge devices, and more power. The 50 is where it's at all around.

You won't get the 700. My class of 12 has 4 in the ATR. You can bid which aircraft you want, and they get assigned by seniority (age within your class). One of the older folks in my class wanted the ATR so he bid that, so the 3 youngest were assigned it, instead of the 4 youngest.

I'm going down for the class on the 19th of this month, I hear that this class will be the one for November that 4 guys will be taken for the ATR, kinda hoping I'm not one of the 4 youngest guys in the class.

A question I have, how long is it before the class date that you get the paperwork, and stuff that lets you know where they are putting you up and the times, etc.?

Bombardier intended it to have a common type rating, who knows why ASA can't do the same????

Hey bite your tongue! That would be the very reason the company would seek to pay pilots the same to fly both!

I'll be in that class too - I'm 25. I'd prefer the 200, but I wouldn't mind too much if I got the ATR.
