all you low time guys on IOE

OK I have to add something here.. Please don't bash all fresh FO's with low time. I came in with low time but have not had one complaint about my flying skills, or my visual approaches! They gave us 4 visual approaches in the sim and hell you can't even fly those worth a dam because of the depth perception. They teach these guys all thru class, visual backed up with the ILS. Follow the command bars! Even on my IOE my CA scolded me for looking outside too early. Its what they teach us! If you don't like it then become and IP and change it. Don't complain to us about it! We are simply doing what we are told. I try to take a little bit of insight from every captain I fly with to make me a better pilot.
Now my visuals are rock solid just from practice, trusting captains, and a little help. I really do understand your frustration, but don't simply complain, do something about it, if you don't want to teach this to guys in gusty crosswinds who are just off green and its 45kt winds then simply say, I'll take it at the OM, and explain to them why. Some FOs really look up to you guys for help. Last time I checked CRM was a big part of any airline and it is a two pilot airplane. Talk to the FO about it before you have to take it. Hey you are 3 white on the PAPI, need 2 red and 1 pink, bring your power up to about 62% etc. Don't wait till the last second. That works in primary training so the student can get a feel for a mistake, but a mistake is what we are trying to avoid in 121, too many lives at stake.. Small corrections are better than letting them get to REF or lower and 4 red on the papi and screaming I got it, at DH.
Hope I didn't offend anyone..

That's exactly why an airliner isn't the place the be learning good judgement, a single pilot airplane is. What happens when you go to an airport without a vasi or an ils? Not trying to be a jerk but the low time guys just don't realize the experience you will never get because you skipped that step in your career. You wouldn't know what all you missed out on unless you gained that experience for yourself.

Recently I have been doing alot of Vis Appch's at night w/o backing it up w/ an ILS (either because that rwy didn't have one, or it wasn't turned on) and I have really come to appreciate it. Just like flying a 172 like everyone says...Man I miss bummin' around in a little plane...
