I worked a 9E flight from TYS to DTW this afternoon, and had a lady that was very drunk raising all kind of L about the 1 carry on rule. Long story short, cops got called and she never even made it passed the gate agent. Anybody else had this happen before?

Happens all the time but count yourself lucky, most gate agents aren't that pro-active and those passengers end up on the jet were you have to "deal" with them. I can honestly say I don't like kicking paying passengers off but if it disrupts our operations and the comfort of the other passengers then it is a must, as well as a FAR.

Actually, I had to get one removed for not separating from his carry ons. He didn't want to put them in the overhead bin. Then he took something from one and stuck it behind his back. He asked the gate agent and FA to be seated closer to the front of the a/c and then proceeded to ask about the populations of Pittsburgh and Washington DC...where we were going. This stuff happens all the time, you just don't hear about it.

That's a fact. It gets better if you have a new FA who can't read the signs or is too unsure of herself to take action during boarding...you get airborne, and then have a much bigger problem when the nuisance passenger misbehaves.

pick a story. happens all the time. and it gets better, i get called because i am a lead. with the amount of @$$ whoopings, law suits, tickets to hell, cursing of me, my mother, and the rest of the fam, etc. etc. etc., i must be in pretty bad shape. the general public is really something to work with.

alot of gate agents are just too busy or too intimidated to deal with that. their ultimate mindset is "they'll chill out, they just wanna get home." i know, i deal with them too. but i am definitely not excusing them though, it is their job to pick that up.

with my experience working with comair, chautauqua, freedom, skywest, shuttle and asa, i must say comair(and i am not being bias) definitely does not tolerate that. i've had a flight return to the gate when they were in position holding for takeoff just to put a passenger off. chautauqua on the other hand in my experience would more deal with the problem once it is not tremendously out of hand. the others just fall into place somewhere in the middle.
