I think, if they did merge, which is a huge possiblity at this point, they would operate as seperate companies for a while. I could see it taking years before the companies finally come together. Although during that time I doubt anyone will get hired at either mainline for at least 5 years. During that time you will see the slow death of some of the regionals. One good thing as a result is forced consolidation should curb demand for jet fuel, which should drop the price of it.

Well... you have to ask if Northwest/Delta will need Memphis hub with Atlanta so close. That should answer your question.

I think if they merged it would be like TWA and American where the regional flying would stay the same. When AA bought TWA they were responsible for TWA's contracts. That's why CHQ flies for them now. So i'm not thinking much would happen.

On another note did anyone read in the USA Today Money section where Delta ALPA pilots are ready to strike if they try to merge without union authorization? Didn't take long for the union to get hot on this issue.

What exactly is your problem with "Compost"? As a mighty superpilot A320 line holder, I would assume you are senior enough to be part of the group that allowed the 175 to be operated by a regional in the scope that you voted in. Do you think any of us flying for a regional wouldn't rather be flying this airplane with a mainline seniority number and payscale. We are stuck playing by the rules that YOU made for us and then you badmouth us for doing it.
