There is no "extra" work involved. There are no flight attendants to brief the pax, and no one else to tidy up the plane after the pax get out. But when you're not flying, you are pretty much free to grab a bite or sit in the crew room and read the paper. Without a cockpit door you sure can't do it enroute!

IND doesn't have a crew room FYI. You have to sit there and get looked at by the passengers. Don't know about SBN/EVV but comair does the ramp at those cities where as F9 does it at IND.

robthree is right about everything, he should be he works there, but from what I understand 9K is looking for permanent Indiana crews, weather it's EVV, SBN or eventually IND.

9k - Cape Air????

So is Cape Air trying to establish a IND full time base?

What are the travel benefits? Their web site says they have travel arrangements but are they like regional benefits or is it more of discount travel?

Cape on the other hand raises pay! What a concept!

If that reaction is your desired outcome I would start by showing up with an ATP, solid IFR skills and an open mind.

Any information would be helpful. I really like the idea of being home almost every night.
Indy is not a base. You're either in South Bend or Evansville, and as far as I know Indy isn't going to become a base. When you're scheduled, you're working 5/2. You're going to fly between 6 and 8 flight hours per day, depending on whether it's VFR or IFR, but keep in mind you're being paid DUTY time, not FLIGHT time, so for your paycheck, it doesn't matter how much you do or don't fly. You aren't expected to "pick up any additional duties" or do any "extra" work with the exception of punching your own pax weights into the weight and balance computer, which you'll do at ANY cape base.

Your travel benefits are fully CASS approved on just about every domestic airline with the exception of Alaska Airlines. You'll walk up to any ticket counter at any airline in any airport in the US and politely ask for the jumpseat. If it's open, it's yours.

There is NO OTHER job like this in aviation. The culture is great, the flight time is there, there's really no abuse of any kind. There's not another job in this category that can get you the money or flight time that Cape Air can. The pilot group is an awesome bunch of peeps.

There are pilots out there who want to come to work and fly as little as possible. This is not your job. Go to Cape Air because you can appreciate a long day of honest, hard flying.

And you're home every night.

Why so bitter? Got Colgan-itis. Or is it because Cape air FO's can make more money than you.
