Default How many hours in a year?

About how many hours are you likely to get in a year at any given regional? Are you going to be getting a lot of reserve time so not much flying in your first year?

First year is usually a little light on the hours just because of reserve and a 3-4 month training cycle. Second year on you can plan on between 700-1000 hours a year depending on reserve time and how much you want to work. 1000 hours is the maximum allowed during a year for 121 operators. There are a few exceptions, like Great Lakes, I believe those guys can fly 1200 hours a year. It's kinda funny though, once you've been around a year or so it become more about how can I fly the least and make the most

Are you talking about 12 months beginning your first day on property or 12 months after you hit the line? 984 seems kinda high if you are including the training cycle. Also, are you talking pay hours or logbook hours. Depending on the work rules, there can be a big difference.

I flew 960 here at PNCL in 07 holding a line for 10 out of the 12 months. I went back and looked at trips I got bought off for and subtracted the difference from reassignments and if I had just flown my schedule I would have (in theory) had 1040 hours (only 1000 is allowed obviously). In 2006 I had training/OE and just 1 month of reserve. 2007 was a full year. This is at a carrier which will fly you until you call fatigue!

Piedmonster gave me 98 my first month "on the line" as a reserve. That was december, january will be about 92 for me, mostly as reserve. February is lookin like it'll be around 88-90.

Long story short, i'm pretty exhausted.

I'm at 760, and I have only been on-line since the end of April last year. 3 months and some change to go to time out! J/K...
