NWA757, my immediate desire is to call you a F#$king A@@*&le, but I will politely disagree.....you advice regional pilots to "stick to your pay rates and don't accept anything larger than 900"
I've heard this rediculous arguement before, always from a mainline guy, that it is better to give up a sure career advancement for the possibility that I MIGHT get hired and make a little bit more on it. That is insane! First off, their is a finite amount the aircraft will pay, so just because it goes to the major doesn't mean that it will pay more. Want proof? Delta TA says they will fly the E190 for 85/hour. Since we get between $70 and $103 for the 700that doesn't seem like that great a deal. I would rather get the aircraft and fight for a better pay rate.
What this is about is you wanting to protect the flying that your company already has. I get it, I don't blame you, but don't pressume to tell me what is best for me. Can you guarantee that if we refuse to fly a bigger airplane and sent it to a major that IF I get an interview and IF I get hired that there will not be another furlough that will put me on the street for 4 to 5 years? I thought not. No thanks.... you fight to keep your airline as good as you can and I will fight to do the same at mine.
Now for the comment that P#ssed me off. "Regionals don't DESERVE to fly mainline aircraft" You arrogant a@@! How dare you say what another group of pilots deserve.
Steve, a guy in my new hire class in 97, shortly after finishing IOE found out that his new born daughter had a terrible disease. He has stayed at ASA to rack up seniority for the schedule to take care of his family. That is what was what was most important to him. Does he somehow "deserve" less of a life than you?
Chris, a very senior guy at our company gets his kicks out of flying WW II warbirds at airshows. He is one of the few civilian pilots that is checked out to fly formation with the Blue Angels. Does he deserve less than you?
I could go on and on with countless examples of guys that are every bit as good as you, or anyone else sitting next too you. Your arrogance is offensive and one last thing.... ALPA is a few pilots short of "Regional Pilots" being the majority, so you might want to drop the attitude.
And, since you are so quick to point out that the E190 is not an "ERJ" you might want to get another thing straight. Most of the companies you refer to are not "regional airlines" by NTSB definition.
The reason Southwest and Air Tran is killing you guys is because of your arrogant attitude, rj's are just another way to compete where you can't.
Change your attitude or go the way of the dinosaur!
