Hey Guys,
I have to get my CFII checkride in before heading off to PSA. For the CFI checkride I had to go to the FAA. But I didnt know if could I go to a DE for the CFII?
Thanks
Brad

First of all, this doesn't really belong in the Regional Thread. Secondly, its possible that this might vary from one FSDO to the next, but I doubt it. Once you have an initial (that is ANY instructor rating) than any further add-on instructor ratings can be accomplished with a DE. I would recommend calling your DE and making sure you can take the test with them. Good Luck.

Wrong place for this post but Sky Chicken is correct. You must go with who the FSDO tells you (sometimes a DE) for only the inital certificate. All others are add-ons that is with an examiner of your choice. You can be completly brave and go with the FSDO if you like. I believe it's free if you do. Also, look for a very basic checkride. Short lesson plan, PTS requirements, new IACRA 8710 briefings, unusual attitudes, and maybe 2 approaches. Good luck.

Call up the local FSDO and ask them if they can do the checkride with you. Tell them you don't have any $$$ and saving the money will pay your rent for a month.
The inspectors still get paid and most of them would really like the chance to get out of the office. Can't hurt to ask.
And the checkride should be the same as with a DE...Right out of the PTS.
