That's what I mean. I'd like an actual answer that addresses these issues and not leave them in the gray only to one day have some fed who didn't get any show up, mad, and take it out on you with no legal protection on your side from it. This topic along with other ones like "unsafe operation of an aircraft" are so broad that no pilot is safe under any circumstance. It's almost like we need a union against the FAA and AOPA is the best option available. If people aren't paying the $30 or whatever a year for the plan they are shooting themselves in the foot.

Mesaba's FOM specifically states in plain language that "flight instruction is not considered commercial flying for these purposes". I have a friend that worked for Skyway who said that flight instruction was not allowed for him. Seems to be different everywhere you go.
