Default Your Opinion On moving to base

Id like to ask everyones opinion for my current situation because Im pretty new in the airline industry and Im hoping someone has been in a similar situation.

I work for PSA. Im currently based in Dayton OH and I live in San Antonio TX. The commute isnt HORRIBLE, but not too fun. Ive been awarded Knoxville TN starting april 1st, once there, probably have about 3 months on reserve. Currently I have an awesome crashpad in DAY and honestly would mind remaining based here. Im definetely moving this summer and my question is WHERE should I move. Here are my options.

Dallas- Wife has lots of family here, Closer to my family, 1 leg commute to ANY of PSA's bases and for that matter almost anywhere in the US Id like to go. I could change bid back to Dayton and hold a line pretty quickly.

Knoxville- Would live at base, be on reserve a little longer, be at the mercy of Knoxville closing as a base then being stuck in the middle of nowhere, commuting, with no family in the area.

So, any suggestions by you guys would be great? I just cant decide.

There's a bunch of commuter haters in this forum. I personally think that moving to your base is good but only if you think you can be happy there. Also, can you live close to the airport (assuming you move to base)?. I know some people that say that they hate commuting and "live" at base, and actually they drive 2 hours to the airport. Isn't that commuting????? I also think that if your commute is fairly stress free and you are happy where you are (or want to be) don't move. Also KEY QUESTION: are you going to be at PSA forever?

No. At the end of the trip, I can get in my car and drive home. If my trip ends at midnight, I still get home. If a flight is oversold, I still drive home. That is the difference. I don't know many mainline bases that you would actually want to live less than an hour from unless you are a big city person. Regional outstation bases change to often to justify moving there.

man I'd move to dallas. if you're like me, I didn't want to leave Texas. Commuting from dallas is easy. when you upgrade/switch bases/go to major, you can commute from there no matter to where easy.
