Comair / ASA

Thinking about making a move to either one?

Which one has "better" qualities? Bases isnt a problem since I live in Miami.

I dont quite meet the mins for Comair but I do have 121 SIC experience, any chance they might lower them for the experience? If not ASA will do but regardless gotta compare the two....any feedback is good.

Thanks AFX Armed

Let me get this straight. You fly for a 121 regional right now, you don't meet Comair Mins (600TT/100ME) or ASA Mins (500TT/50ME) and you are looking to jump ship? Who do you work for now? Mesa? Piedmont?

Put your app in, they have hired with 250 total. He is an All ATP graduate and has done very well. CVG Base may be difficult having to commute through atl.

No I got the ASA mins but not the 600 that comair wants, and I havent done the ATP written.
currently at 515ish.

You are probably fine at Comair, I got hired with 580 TT and 58 multi...all cfi, no 121 time.... I like it a lot here, life has gotten a lot better with a little senority

I think we have hired some guys below <600 TT here at Comair that came from the "Academy", Delta Connection Academy I should say not Air Force Academy:rolleyes: Put your stuff in, but I'd think twice about coming to work for Comair.

Whats the downside at Comair, I knew some stuff with upgrade was going around but anything to add? I would prefer Comair since I got family in the JFK area so the reserve issue wont be a problem, I wanted to know if the -200 guys cross fly the planes or whoever is on the -200 only -200/100 and 700/900 or all mixed?

No, if you are on the -200, you only fly the -200 out of CVG or JFK base. If you are on the 700/900 you only fly those out of CVG base. So, if you want to be JFK based you'll only fly the -200. Look's like it takes about a year or so to get the 70/90, but you'll have to go to CVG.

Whats the chance of landing either?
Which flying is better? I know the 7/9 got the better cockpits and whatnot but I mean sched wise and the like.....I got a good buddy of mine who was a CFI in Comair outta JFK but I havent been able to contact him to see whats going on out there.

JustaRampagent 03-09-2008 04:19 PM

stay aways from comair...My good buddy is about to make a year in comair and he has only flown about 260 hours in the CRJ! he wants to jump ship but he think about the second year pay. he based out of JFK and still doesn't have a line yet.
