When you interview, you can make your equipment preference known. No guarantee you'll get it, but it never hurts to ask.
There has been speculation in the past that people with ATP mins get the 170, and those with less get CHQ. It's not true in my experience. I have an ATP and got the 170, one of my fellow interviewee's had 1000+ and got the 170 as well.
But, having said all this, it is really up to what they need to fill based on their long term projections. I do know that in my interview, all 3 certificates were being hired into.
Hope this helps

"They" say our training is a bit harder too. Seems that I recall that I also got that from a guy that was FO in the 170 and is now CA upgrade for the 145. I think your "but, having said all this" statement is much more accurate.

I doubt that. I'm in my class of over 25 guys/gals at CHQ most had well over 1000 hrs ( a couple over 3K) and most were previous 121/135 guys and X military. I guess they do that since we actually fly the AC at CHQ rather than watch it fly.

You hit the nail on the head. I agree. I just kind of resent someone saying that Republic assigns "lesser" qualified pilots to CHQ. Nothing against that poster. He is entitled to his opinion but it is simply misinformed from what I have seen, but thats just my opinion. If anything I have noticed that most of the 170 guys seem younger than those at CHQ. Does that equate to flight experience? I don't know. Like I said, my opinion.
