Can't wait to have uncle Phill (here at PNCL) as a pax.......I'd basically crash the airplane into the concrete and as he deplanes I'd say........"You get what you pay for uncle Phill......."

26 at phl and 33 at dca= gear strength tests for AWAC rj's in my opinion. Sometimes you can get'em to be nice, but other times, get the b****h on the ground and stopped is all you can do.

If it was in the touchdown zone and there was no structural damage, it was a good landing.....

Use those standards, and all your landings will be good.

Preferably in the ballpark on the speed as well ;) Had a few less than stellar landings in my life, but one day a couple of years ago I had a not even close to bad landing and one elderly man decided to "ask" me as he deplaned: "Son, where you in the Navy?" The FO, flight attendant and myself just looked at each other for a few seconds before we busted out laughing (after the gentleman deplaned of course.)

Aircraft reusable = good landing

or any of the Dash 8 series for that matter.

The real rough landings I get is on 33 or 15 at DCA. If feel rather rushed to get it on the ground. I don't care about smooth landings on that rwy. I'd be a little upset if I greased it on then ended up in river or cement wall. The capt probably wouldn't appreciate it either.

No no, walking away from it = good landing. Airplane re-usable = great landing :)

My first flight/landing in IOE was firm to say the least. Was told in the sim not to flare the saab, so guess what, I didn't :eek: I thought we hit so hard that we were back in the air. I did hit the touchdown zone, literally. One of the passengers asked the flight attendant for her to land the plane next time.
Just when you think you have it figured out in the Saab, the plane proves you otherwise.

p.s. So true, I seem to greased it in the worst weather, but not when the weather is great

the compass on the atr swings down from the glareshield and one day i smashed into the ground so hard that i broke the compass. it slammed out of the stored position so hard that it landed in the captains lap. after a bounce in richmond in the 145 the fa said to us as we opend the door to call maintenance cause i knocked the rubber jungle down (o2 masks) thankfully he was jaggin me but i wouldnt have been shocked if i had.

Eh. It happens. (I swear they must have jacked the airport up a few feet from when we last landed here!)

I recall an incident where I was sitting at a gate once getting ready to depart. A CRJ pulled into the ramp space next to us and started to deplane. Right as the door opened, the crew of that aircraft called us on the ops freq and asked me to "keep an eye on the passengers as they deplane."

Although it was an odd request, I figured that maybe they were running an engine or CS was short staffed so I looked up as they came down the airstairs. Sure enough, every one of them was smiling and waving. Of course, not wanting to be a jerk, I had to stop my preflight checks and wave back.

Finally after they deplaned, the CA of that flight comes running over. I ask him what the deal was and he says- "Hey thanks! I had a really sh--ty landing, so to take their mind off of it, I told them it was your birthday and you just asked your flight attendant to marry you."

We had a good laugh about it. (And he didn't get any grief!)
