I was wondering....
AE flies the EMB135;s out of Boston doing these New York and Bangor runs. I think those hold 38 people? The Saab holds 34 people?
Would it make sense to bring some Saab's up to Boston to do these less than 200 mile runs? You'd be carrying the same amount of people and burn less gas.
I work with a guy who used to be a mechanic in Boston for Eagle back in the day. He said they ran so many Saab flights out of there and that replacing them with the RJ was a bad idea.
Any thoughts?

Just my two cents...
With the way jet fuel prices are, you are going to see alot of airlines cut back on flying.
With the economics of a regional jet that carries 50 seats making less and less sense, just imagine how little sense it makes to fly a regional jet with under 50 seats.
This is of course based on the leg length flown. So around 200 miles yeah thats a money trap and Saabs or Q's would make alot more sense.
jets on short runs are no good, tprops on short runs are good.
Jets on long haul are good and tprops on longer hauls are not so good. Simple as that.
Just my opinion though.

There will be two Saab 2000's operating 121 in the US (Alaska) very soon. FWIW.
45 pax and bags
Full tanks - 9400 lbs fuel.
365 KTAS
less than 1900 lbs/hr in cruise
Active Noise Reduction cabin that works.
Pro Line 4, 6 tube cockpit, full FADEC - no prop levers at all...
Great plane - wish there were more of them around.

Well, I know nothing about dash 8 but SAS got rid of them after the landing where the gear collapsed - the passangers were refusing to book flights if the flight was on that plane...

Btw, I noticed the flag in your avatar - have they switched to € in Slovenia?
