Default For anyone who has flown the B1900...

I have a dumb question.

Why in the world does every Beech 1900D have white rotating (flashing) beacons? Every other beacon on every other airplane I have ever seen has been red. I have asked around quite a bit, but have yet to get an answer. Any Beech 1900 experts out there? My 1.7 hours in the airplane hardly qualifies me as an expert... anyone with a little more time in type than me care to chime in?

Does anyone know? Any good guesses? Any funny sarcastic answers?

Kansas... you know the answer right? Thanks buddy.

I am pretty sure the FAR's say it has to be red or white? This may be the case. I have seen alot of beechcraft set up like this personally such as the muskateer and the baron.

A Baron... really? Not that I don't believe you, but I have never seen any other aircraft. Anyone else ever seen a white beacon?

I know a lot of King Air's have them as well, and a few BE-400s I've seen have them. Perhaps its a Beech thing, maybe they prefer to put white rather than red on their airplanes?

ATR's also have white beacons. We used to get guys on the radio telling us to turn off our strobes all the time.

Yup, whenever that happens we flip the strobe switch on and say "is that better?"

Not that anyone would care about the poor old Shorts but they had White or red depending on the plane. Sometimes the motor would stick and you'd enter a cloud or haze at night and have a light shining off to one side or the other.
