David Clark X11's

100% agree. Had the X11 for 4 days....went back in exchange for a Bose. X11's are super comfortable, but outside of that they are just a terrible product. At least that was my experience with them anyway.

I have the x11's. the noise cancelling isnt that great especially if your wearing sunglasses. I like them because they are light. After a 6-7hr cross country my head isnt throbbing. I was going to send them back, then I had to wear my old headset for a day. oh yeah, make sure you flip that switch underneath the batteries so they will turn off when ur not using them.

Thanks for the input , I think I'll call DC and ask them. I've tried the bose and actually like the X11's better especially being able to listen to my ipod. I flew from CA to FL in a 172 and back to AZ and the music was a life saver.

I can usually get through a three day on one set of rechargeables with mine. This past week though as I was taking them off they broke!! The plastic piece connecting the headband to the earpiece is pretty cheap plastic and it just snapped. I sent them back (DC is notoriously good with repairs/warranties) and they said they have been seeing this--just to let you know. I will have to wait about 2-3 weeks for my new ones. I would have gotten the Bose but they just aren't as comfortable on my ears as the X11. The noise cancelling is superior on the Bose though as one would expect.

The X-11'S seem to fit me a bit better than the Bose. What I really like about them is that they pack down so small. I get 25-30 hours out of mine (2500 Miah rechargeable).
I was having a similar problem when I was instructing in Skyhawks in winter. I found that when the battery pack was resting on the floor in a cold soaked aircraft, the batteries would get cold fast and drain quickly. The problem was fixed, when I made it a point to keep the battery pack off the floor. In the summer, it didn't seem to matter but in the winter, the floor of some aircraft never seems to warm up. Of course, If you're in an RJ, I imagine the floor stay warmer than a Skyhawk.
I also found the aircraft to be a big factor in battery life. When I was flying skyhawks, I got 15-20 hours of life. In the Saab, I get 25-30. I imagine the quieter the plane, the longer the battery life.

I've had the X11's for about a year and a half. I've really enjoyed them although I've had to send them back twice already. First time the mic just stopped working out of the blue, and second just like WIFlyer the little swivel piece broke. When I was instructing I got about 40-50 hours with duracell's. In the Q400 I don't even use the noise cancelling and they work fine. Haven't tried the Bose but when the DC's work I love them.
