Hey guys,
I am soon going to be starting simulator training for my airline, on the Dash-8. IF I pass the checkride, I may be in the market for a new head-set. I currently have the David Clark 13.4, but was thinking that it would probably be a good idea to get something a little better/more comfortable if I am going to start spending much more time in an airplane. Question is, what headset do you guys suggest I look at? Looking for something not more then around 600$ TOPS, and something that would last me a long time with good guarentee, or warentee. Something comfortable, and that will protect my hearing for the long haul. What do you guys out there, use/recommend? What to stay away from? Thanks for all replies. :) |
Concur on the Bose X ($1000) being overkill in the jets. We have several of the early model CRJ's that have very noisy windshield wipers, so I prefer the X in these planes.
I also use the Clarity Aloft Pro ($750), very VERY light, doesn't touch your head anywhere except over your ears (like sunglasses). I ordered custom molded earplugs, and that makes them an excellent jet headset. Note: not recommended for noisy turboprops, no ANR either. For $600, I dunno. I did buy a DRE ANR 6000 headset ($300) that I really like a lot for the money. Much like the David Clarks in size, weight, style, etc. http://www.flydre.com/headsets.html I'd probably be tempted to try the LightSpeed Zulu headset ($850) http://www.zuluseries.com/ |
