They're speakers definitely are. No highs, no lows, must be Bose.

I would like to hear how the Bose QC2/UflyMike setup does in the Saab though. I'm currently using DC 13.4s with the Headsets Inc. ANR kit and it does a pretty good job, but are not comfortable to wear all day.

I used the same David Clark set but I also would wear earplugs when I was flying the Saab. On the Jetstream I just used the headset, but then again I wasn't flying 7 legs/8 hours days in it.

I can't address how the QC2/uflymike works in the Saab, but I use mine in a Chieftain for 4-8 hours a day, every day, and it is far and away the most comfortable one I've ever worn. At $500, IMHO, it isn't overpriced, especially considering it's utility as a non-piloting headset.

If you put earplugs in underneath the Senn's, it might cancel all the noise out.

Some guys use earplugs and the Telex's in the ATR. Truth be told, you can go headsets off and it's really not that loud in cruise. Though I've noticed (for whatever reason) some of our frames to be louder than others. Odd.

the emb145 is so loud because it has the same nose as the brasilia. when the brazillians built the thing they just slapped the 120's nose on the new faster airplane. They never tested it at transonic speeds (.70 mach and higher) where a shock wave builds just behind the cockpit bulkhead.

when i was in the atr we would just never wear headsets it wasnt that loud and with the heat it kept you that much cooler.

Charlotte to the bury is a good 2 hours...also only the alg use headsets and the hot mic. I use the plantronics MS 260 its only about 200.

Because hearing some breathe through the interphone for an hour isnt that great either.

Been using the Bose X for 4 years now, in both the Shorts 360 and Dash 8-100 (not the Q series). It's perfect for the Shorts. As a matter of fact, all the FOs that have tried out my pair have ended up getting their own. But in the Dash, even though it's not the quietest turboprop, I felt the X was a bit of overkill at times. During long flights I've found myself taking off my headset and putting on the company provided telex lollipops with earplugs during cruise to prevent the inevitable "headset hair". After all, it's all about how you look outside the cockpit right? :D

I've tried out the QC2 with the uflymike adapter in both airplanes and I didn't like it because 1) it didn't provide enough noise reduction in the Shorts and 2) as an FO in the Dash, I hated having the cord come across my body. I guess the second problem wouldn't be so bad once I upgrade.

bagos, who are you flying for now?

I too flew the Shorts 330 and 360, the Dash 8-100 and now the Q. I'm guessing we flew the same boxes around :)

by the way, love the avatar. I always wanted a sticker of Lone Star One for my flight bag.
