I know this is awkward to ask this just in the middle of this thread, but any insight would be helpful.

Can I jumpseat on the following flight (being international) as a XJ pilot in cass?

UA *7635 YUL ORD 600A 720A E70 0
This flight is operated by /UNITED EXPRESS/SHUTTLE AMERICA

It leaves tomorrow morning and would get me home quick.

JetJock, how is that different than you not being able to transfer to ASA?

Thanks..

ASA and SKW posses separate seniority lists and are completely separate companies with separate headquarters (St. George and Atlanta) and separate training departments; but Republic, Shuttle America and Chautauqua are all on one seniority list and all have the same headquarters. So to answer your question .................... it’s completely different.

Any RAH pilots care to add or correct?

Just a question, why do most SKW pilots not want to be on one list with ASA? When the XJT talk was going on why did they not want to be on one list with ASA and XJT? Do they not realize the leverage this poses?

one seniority list yes.....one HQ yes....separate everything else.....different yes....completely no. Your post would infer that the strings at ASA are not pulled in Utah......which would be a huge stretch.

ASA = Union
SKW = NO union..and dont want one

I mean no offense so don't take any, just correcting your posting with the facts.

None taken. I didn't have the 2006 numbers in front of me. I do recall that the new Comair number was less than all the rest except Mesa.

Thanks for putting up the real numbers.

Most SKW pilots are leary of alpa, and joining ASA would result in the whole group going alpa. Also at this time there is no whipsaw between ASA and SKW and compensation is essentially the same.

With SKW non-union I do not believe that the SKW pilots could force a merger with ASA against management's will. I think we would have to vote in a union first. Management could force a merger if they wanted to, but a union vote would follow, and would pass.

I understand what you are saying, but there are ASA tail numbers being flown by SKW... Isn't this kinda a whipsaw?

This has been said time and time agian, but ALPA is only as good as your local MEC.

There are also Comair tail numbers being flown by ASA and Mesa numbers being flown by SKW as well as many other regionals. I also believe we have a few former ACA birds as well. Didn’t TSA just get a few Mesa birds and DAL just received 20 757's that were former AA/ex-TWA birds.

Yes there were a few planes that were transferred over but when we received the 12 CR7's from Comair 4 went to SKW and 8 to ASA. Bottom line, planes move and sometimes they move without the lose or gain of flying.

We are both under an umbrella company that is located in SGU, but each airline has their own HQ in separate cities complete with seperate Mgmnt, HR and training departments.

As for the union, let’s not take this thread down that road. I voted yes for ALPA but I fully understand why my brethren made their choices. I will continue to explain why I would like representation but I will NEVER be-little or berate them for their views.

Reread the part of my post which you quoted and highlighted. Read it CAREFULLY this time. No need to respond.
