After bogarting another thread, I decided to begin my own with some q's pertaining to employment at Sky West. Anyone with info please chime in!
Does anyone have a ballpark current timeframe for app submission to interview date? And if you are not particular at all about equipment, what are the chances of a SAN base as a new-hire, and assuming SAN is senior(
) what's the next closest a junior FO may have a good chance at? And assuming flying-on-the-side is permitted with permission as I learned yesterday, what is a realistic expectation of how many days per month I would have free and clear (Line holder) to fly considering we only log around .8 per day on the corporate side gig I presently fly at...Thanks in advance, folks!

Probably could have gotten more but I bid 5 four day trips because my kids like to eat!
If you really really love flying, you could work your days off. Sometimes after a long four day trip, I don't want to see an airplane for a couple of days and I love to fly! Realistically I would think you could work half of your off days just to give your body and brain a rest. That is what I have done in the past. It was "pleasure flying" not "professional flying" so you may find different limits for yourself. Do whatever you need to to make ends meet in your first year.

There are three flights per day on X-Jet from SAN-FAT, plus the tons of flights that run FAT-LAX and LAX-SAN. Probably wouldn't be too hard of a commute. That's if you get the bro of course. On the jet, reserve time in FAT is around a year (at least for me), so you might want to pick another base if you are going to commute from SAN. The one month I did have a line, I was off 16 days. You can probably work it so you can get at least 14 off per month with a line. On reserve, it will always be either 10 or 11 off, unless you take vacation or other leave.

They should have no problem with it. The guard flight time doesn't count towards commercial flight time mins. 30/7 100month. Thats why they have issues with other commercial flying gigs is that you're using up your available flight hours flying for somebody else and not making money for them.

One complication of flying guard/reserve, and not getting time at SkW is not meeting the 1000 hr crew time to upgrade.
Had one guy in my new hire class flying the C17 overseas with this problem.
