Default Seeking Sky West info...

After bogarting another thread, I decided to begin my own with some q's pertaining to employment at Sky West. Anyone with info please chime in!
Does anyone have a ballpark current timeframe for app submission to interview date? And if you are not particular at all about equipment, what are the chances of a SAN base as a new-hire, and assuming SAN is senior() what's the next closest a junior FO may have a good chance at? And assuming flying-on-the-side is permitted with permission as I learned yesterday, what is a realistic expectation of how many days per month I would have free and clear (Line holder) to fly considering we only log around .8 per day on the corporate side gig I presently fly at...Thanks in advance, folks!

Here is what I found in 2 minutes, some were responses to questions you asked in other posts

As for your other question, it varies. If you’re on reserve one month you might fly 5 hours and the next 30 and the next 80 but if you hold an RJ line I’d expect an average of 950+ or so per year, if an EMB line you’ll be around 1050+ or so.

Max Reg. block per year:
RJ = 1000
EMB = 1200

With PBS and our trip trading program you can fly as much or as little as you want on the RJ. The Bro is a different story.

Since becoming a line holder I have been scheduled for a minimum of 80 plus hours of flying per month.

For T2Pilot....... Minimums are 1000 TT. I do not know if SkyWest has gone below that ever. There is no ratio on interviewed people and job offers. Bring your A game and Be Yourself. The people on the hiring panel do a great job and want to get to know you and ultimately ask themselves if they would want to spend four days with this applicant in a small shiny tube hurtling through the air depending on one another to get the job done.

Sorry man, but seems like most of your questions have already been answered. This Forum has a great search function where you can find a lot of info.

Not really sure about timeframe, but my guess is maybe a couple weeks (???) as we're running interviews five days/week this summer. As of right now, from what I'm told, new hires are going to the Brasilia, but the first jet class is supposed to be in the fall sometime. Bad news as far as SAN, I'm told it is one of the most senior bases. New hires on the Brasilia seem to go to FAT or SLC. As far as days off, usually it's been between 11 and 15 days off for me, but I fly the CRJ out of ORD, so I have no idea how the Brasilia works.

I submitted my entire app via their website on a Thursday night at 11pm EST. On Friday morning I got a confirmation of receipt. On Monday they called me to schedule, and they told me I could pick any date Mon-Fri and probably could've picked the next day if I wanted.

Default Interview prep material:

"So, where did you fly for Mesa?"

"Who was your Mesa IOE instructor?, Oh, mine too."

"Do you miss the West coast, or are you looking for a different payscale?"

"United's uniform is navy blue, ours is black, do you mind that?"

Maybe in your haste to respond you overlooked the details of the question as I don't see where in this present thread intro I asked the same question as yesterday? In the posts you cited from yesterday I had asked about hours logged at SKW per month/year, here I am trying to get answers to other questions like HOW MUCH outside flying is feasible/realistic and what are app to interview timeframes. suggest closer attention to detail and ditch the combative 'tude.

Settle down, there is no "combative 'tude." I was only suggesting how the Search bar works great.

That's some cruel and funny stuff.

They will not allow you to fly your corporate gig on your days off. I tried this too and was shot down. Two reasons given were one, they electronically transmit times to the FAA about each pilot, and Skywest would have no way of transmitting your corporate info. Also, to them it's a liability due to the fact that you could make yourself illegal for a skywest flight at some point (especially during the winter when delays are heavy and block times go way up due to diverts/holds/etc.). SAN is very senior, and I'd say the chances of getting it as a new-hire are pretty much nil. If you get the jet, welcome to Milwaukee or Chicago. If you get the EMB, welcome to Fresno.
