Any news on whats going on at Republic, like new contracts in the works? Is it true that Chautauqua will be losing all the crj flying for continental and getting rid of the erj135's pretty soon?

The ERJ135s have been moving out and being replaced by 170/175s for DAL.

The CRJ contracts are ending. The aircraft were never intended to be keepers. They were all leased.

As far as any new news at Republic as of right now there is none. With the airlines hemorrhaging money due to fuel cost anything is up in the air. Anything in a press release is subject to change tomorrow. The "rumors" have been to start hiring in August but knowing this company until we get something on paper there's no reason to believe that. Once again I point to the economy. RAH is in a position. I won't say a great position but it's not in a bad position. At the moment it's treading water on the hiring and expansion but it's still making money hand over fist. Even with the loss of frontier. This is good news for the company but then again we're all a little selfish and worried about ourselves. As far as we go who knows. Everything has slowed but as of right now I don't expect to see us furloughing. Mainly because even on a good day we're still understaffed.

I was just in RW recurrent and J.D. talked of early summer furloughs if something is not done with the F9 planes ASAP. He said they are really running out of time and have only found a home for 3 of them. Add to that the loss of 24 CRJs by the end of 2009 and it doesn't seem likely RAH will hire in the near future or next year for that matter; unless something drastic occurs.

I have 600 below me (I know TD is senior to me) and I'm definitely honing my post-furlough employment plan.

They just started a Shuttle class last week and one scheduled for next month. VERY short on FO's for Shuttle at least. If I were a prospect or swimmin' in the pool, I would put a call into Glenda ASAP. Times are rough but if you want in, do it NOW!

New hire/FO classes?!?!?! Are you sure? How come nobody didn't say anything?
I think they were CA classes otherwise everybody would know, or at least there would be a discussion somewhere about it.

You seem to be the only person who's heard about this.

I agree. To say we're "VERY short" on FO's is a bit extreme. Just looking at the base cover sheets it would seem to me we're bit a fat on FO's.

And yes, that class you heard about was more than likely the upgrade class.
