Typical. I didn’t expect that from you but since you posted the comment…………………that’s a good route for SKW and it always has been. If AA doesn’t want to fly it anymore then that’s their choice but I will truly miss racing the Saab up and down the west coast (SAN, SBA, SBP, FAT, etc).

BTW, Eagle runs the route (LAX-SBP) 4 times a day and so does SKW; we also run SBP another 5 times from SFO and once from SLC. I’m just saying that SKW will probably a 1 or 2 more flights from LAX for obvious reasons. Don’t be a typical APC poster and read more into my posting than what was intended.

Does TSA operate any other a/c for AA besides these 10?

Yes. I can't remember exact numbers, but probably another 10 or so that aren't Eagle's.

even though we're understaffed the boston base is overstaffed and i'm told most of my reserve will be out of somewhere other than boston where i'm based...

My heart does go out to the folks in BOS and LGA. It sounded like one of the bases was going to get cut and it always hurts when its your base. Good luck everyone.
i hope that is the case but if there are 200-230 pilots coming from the saabs they will likely displace moost of the lower guys on the EMB. i think that the 200 short is working itself out and a shortage of maybe 400 would've avoided any furloughs. it just seems there's going to be to many displaced pilots at this point to avoid some sort of reduction. i don't think eagle can afford almost 3000 pilots.

It's nice to know what the fleet plan is right now. It would be better to know the staffing that they are planning on. I have heard numbers as high as being 250 FOs short right now. Either way with the net loss of 45 planes (26 SF3 and 19 EMB) it's still not too comfortable sitting about 150 from the bottom.

Where in the company email did it say anything about closing the bases?

You take good solid information, and then interject your own conjecture with the implication that it is fact.

I wouldn't put it past them to do so, but it wasn't part of the email.

25JUN08/1143¶

TO: ALL AMERICAN EAGLE PILOTS¶

RE: TODAYS SCHEDULE ANNOUNCEMENTS¶

TODAY, AMR ANNOUNCED THE CHANGES IT WILL BE MAKING TO BOT
THE AMERICAN AND AMERICAN EAGLE SCHEDULES FOR THE FOURTH
QUARTER OF THIS YEAR, TO ACHIEVE THE PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED
REDUCTION IN CAPACITY. FOR EAGLE, THIS WILL RESULT IN THE
GROUNDING OF AIRCRAFT. REDUCED FLIGHT FREQUENCY IN MANY
CITIES AND REGRETTABLY, THE CLOSURE OF FIVE STATIONS AND A
MAINTENANCE FACILITY. EMPLOYEES IN THOSE CITIES MOST IMPACTED
BY THESE CHANGES HAVE ALREADY BEEN INFORMED. FOR OUR
FLIGHTCREWS THESE ADDITIONAL SCHEDULE REDUCTIONS IN BOS, AS
WELL AS THE LARGE NUMBER OF REDUCTIONS IN LGA REQUIRE THAT WE
MAKE SOME DIFFICULT DECISIONS CONCERNING OUR CREW BASES IN THE
NORTHEAST. WE WILL KEEP YOU INFORMED AS WE WORK THROUGH
THESE DECISIONS.
I WANT TO OFFER MY SPECIAL THANKS TO PETER BOWLER AND
THE ENTIRE EAGLE LEADERSHIP TEAM FOR THEIR EFFORTS ON
BEHALF OF OUR PEOPLE. PETER, ALONG WITH MYSELF AND OTHER
EAGLE EXECUTIVES, WORKED CLOSELY WITH AMERICAN THROUGHOUT
THESE SCHEDULING DECISIONS AND FOUGHT HARD TO KEEP FLYING
FOR EAGLE - AND WE WERE INSTRUMENTAL IN AMERICANS DECISION
TO REQUEST THAT TRANS STATES RETURN THE 10 CURRENTLY LEASED
RJS TO EAGLE.¶

I ALSO WANT TO THANK EACH OF YOU FOR THE JOB YOU DO, AND THE
PROFESSIONALISM YOU DISPLAY, TRANSPORTING OUR PASSENGERS
TO THEIR DESTINATIONS EVERY DAY.

FOR MORE DETAILS ABOUT TODAYS ANNOUNCEMENTS, READ THE SPECIAL
EAGLEWIRE FROM PRESIDENT AND CEO PETER BOWLER THAT HAS BEEN
DISTRIBUTED TODAY AND POSTED ON THE FLIGHT OPS WEBPAGE.
FEEL FREE TO CALL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS/COMMENTS. FLY SAFE

That kinda hinted to me that we would lose one or both bases. Open JFK maybe.
