I love how some of you people who are the cause for the REGIONAL AIRLINE are now SCREAMING Mainline airplanes!!!!!!!, One seniority list blah blah. Its like when I had this "MAINLINE" guy at the ALPA leadership convention tell the regional guys we are destroying the industry, meanwhile it was this ignorant clown who probably caved on scope some years ago. THIS MESS was created buy the GREEDY MAINLINE guys, not the starving 22 yr old CFI.

I agree its a disgrace. NWA parking DC-9's and more 170's /CRJ-900's are coming on line, but unfortunately the regional pilot had little do do with it

Having been both, I can honestly say that the blame can be shared. The real blames lies with the acute lack of leadership at ALPA National. The goat-screwing of the emergence of the RJ is the biggest ALPA policy failure of our time. It should be the title of the next "Flying the Line" "How ALPA Goat Frigged the Emergence of the Regional Jet" Jets fly at mainline period. We should have all stuck over it. Additionally if ALPA would not have allowed Jets to be flown at such paltry rates the attraction of them flying at commuters would not have existed. We have set a terrible precedent while companies like ASA, SKYWEST, MESA, and CoEx made a fortune off of shinny jet syndrome. Pilots are our own worst enemies.

True, can't argue with any of it. I dunno I would say many people will be turned off from this industry in years to come but before there would ever be a shortage, I am sure MPL's would come into play, that cabatage (SP?) and the mess that age 65 created, I fear this industry will be a disgraced one for decades to come

Only because they have 250 hour wonder kids willing to accept the job.

I heard through the grapevine that they are looking at a surplus of 125 to 200 pilots at Eagle...although it is still unknown how much will be taken care of through attrition, retirement, etc. etc. etc.

Scary for a guy sitting 111 from the bottom of the deck!

(Insert sound of nail biting here)

Sick an tired of people calling others "wonder kids" ... Imagine you're on their shoes, don't tell me you're going to decline an opportunity that was given to them like few months ago! Just ask yourself that question. Oh, and if you're so fed up with all these wonder kids that your company hired...just quit and protest.

BTW, sorry for beating a dead horse.

Actually, on some we do. I flew 'em both on the AA side about 2 weeks ago. 5 early or better on every leg. Was there some sort of point to that question?

And to settle your concerns, I was sportin' close to 2,000TT when I got my first jet job so you can back off with any "low timer" comments.

eagle mgt today said that we are looking at a surplus of approximately 100-150 pilots by years end. This assumes an average attrition of 30 pilots per month for the next two months and half that attrition til year's end.

Also, this "surplus" does NOT include Leaves of Absence or other avenues of voluntarily reducing the workforce. Hope this gives a better idea of where we are headed.
