Everyone that started class has finished or is in the process of finishing. They havent sent anyone home from the school house to my knowledge.

Besides a couple CA upgrades, nobody has gone home...all the new-hires are still here.

I would be surprised if AA took any flying away from CHQ. Contractually, I don't think they can reduce us a significant amount unless they go into bankruptcy.

Does anyone have info on how the CHQ contract works? I would imagine AA is locked into an agreement and wouldnt be able to just cut them out?

This is because they know there will be a HUGE training bubble associated with all of this. When the company moved the CRJs from all ORD to a split between ORD and DFW there was a big bubble with people operating the existing fleet while still training for the changes. They will have to staff the Saabs until September when all of those folks will go into jet or ATR training. They will have to operate SJU at full levels until then when some will go to training, some will TDY DFW and some will stay put. The jets will be operated until they are parked. They will need every single new hire to make up for the existing shortage and then to cover the training bubble. Once the bubble is done (several months) there will be some natural attrition from people finding other, more stable jobs (potentially because a base is closed) or just giving up on this business all together.

Furloughs may happen so if you are towards the bottom, keep a backup plan in place but in the mean time you will have an excellent opportunity to build time and experience with some very good Captains. IF those furloughs happen, it probibly won't be for months and by then they may not be necessary at all. I know its difficult but keep focused and do what you do best. Good luck all

This may have already been mentioned....

However, first off, what is good for one isn't good for another. We at TSA are screwed with potentially 100 pilots furloughed because of this, while the Eagle guys are happy. No hard feelings at all to the Eagle guys, its just the way life works and we'll suck it up.

However, we operate 16 AA airplanes, with 10 gone soon, our AA operation will be about the same as our Airways operation. However, this may???? be a good thing because it loosens AA's grip on us as regards that 50 seat scope clause. Perhaps if we ditch AA flying, we can begin to get 70 seaters on the TSA side, merge seniority lists with GoJet (that will be a big cluster to arrange) and operate primarily as a United feeder. But, then again, if United goes TU, we're done.

Not trying to be a smarta$$ and definitely not trying to rekindle that stupid 'Eagle in Miami thread' but, you may have a little insight as to how some Eagle pilot's might have felt back in 2002. At least TSA was able to carry approximately 40-50 extra captains gaining PIC time over the last 6 years. The airline rollercoaster continues.

I voted to make the lists the same back in 05, but 80% of my coworkers thought they would be better off without it...I hope you can fugure it out this time.
Sure it was a bad pay scale and the Go Jet guys stayed in their "70 seaters", but a 3 year extention to secure future flying was worth it (in my oppinion). Hope my friends at TSA are able to ride this one out...good luck guys.

It's actually a TWA contract with a merger clause. When AA bought TWA, our contract was allowed to run it's course (which confuses a lot of Eagle guys who seem to think it's "their" flying but that's another story). If there was a performance issue (which there isn't) they could drop us that way. Or if AA goes into bankruptcy, they could drop us that way. The reason TSA is being dragged over the coals is because they have actual AMR aircraft that they're using. Our aircraft are either ours or part of a third party lease (the bank owns them). AMR can't just retire some of their airplanes and take some of ours to replace them because they're not their airframes and never were.

The common feeling is that both parties will part ways when the contract is up in 2013ish.
