Default ASA Reserve

Can anybody at ASA shed some light on the bidding process for reserve. I am I new FO. They built me a line for July, but I will be on reserve in August. How and when do I bid for my reserve schedule. And when will I know my schedule for the following month. Any infoon the process would be great. Thanks

The bid package is out now for August on Flica. On Reserve you are basically just going to bid on your Golden Days. The Reserve Lines are at the very end of the list and are numbered 701-714 or 715 I can't remember. Look at the sets of Golden Days, and list them in the preference you want them. Keep in mind you probably won't get your first choice unless you want Mon-Wed off. You will know your Golden Days the evening of the 14th, but won't know your final schedule until the evening of the 24th. The lines come out on the 10th of each month and you have to bid by the 14th at 5 pm I think, it tells it all on Flica.

Wow, and I just noticed we now have 205 FO's on the CR7. I think they are a little late on getting fat. Not sure what they were ramping up for but last month there were about 175 and I think it was down around 165 in the spring. It must be residual effects from the hiring days. All I can say is that there are going to be a lot of guys sitting around if they reduce the flying anymore than it is. And I have a feeling that is inevitable at the moment.

BSH932, if you need any help, just PM. I'd be glad to give you a tutorial. They really don't go over that sort of stuff at all in training. I remember those days.

Just curious--what are your all's min days off per month for reserves/lineholders? What do your reserves average in terms of flight times? You all have hispeeds/reducedrestovernights/standups?

Like afterburn81 said this stuff wasn't talked about much in training. I would add that you also need to go on ourasa and update a reserve preference form using the e documents. This form is used to select your on call time, long call or if you want to be converted to a regular line.

nicholasblonde we have 11 days off. 6 golden which they can't move and 5 which they can move if they need. Doesn't seem like they do that to often these days. August will be my 4th month on and I would say I am averaging about 30 hours a month. I am sure that will shrink greatly in the fall. I have done my share of naps or standups on reserve. Got one tomorrow night as a matter of fact.

Is it me or did the reserve lines seem to be crappy this month?

Totally, looks like they are restricting people from getting weekends off. I don't understand why seeing as there will be over 50 guys on reserve each day.

Also for lineholders it's 12/31 and 11/30 on days off. I have been on reserve for 15 months on the 700 and the average block hours is extremely variable each month. Some months I fly 70-75 hours and some months none at all. It's tough when you go a whole month without flying. When you get back on you tend to have built up a little rust.

The reserve lines suck this month, I agree. I wanted the 1-3 off and there isn't even a line that has that, just stupid day's off.

Also, several of the FO's on the 700 this month are IP's from the training department flying there required time on line.

I'm on the 200 and been here just over a year. For july I got 3 day trips and 17 days off. Not likely for August, but I'm bidding on 3 days again. I have seen an increase in 3 day trips the past few months and it's been nice. For reserve all you can really do is bid for your GDO. If you're a brand new FO you're pretty much guaranteed short call, so just bid your golden days off, but weekends off is unlikely. Final schedule on the 24th will tell you your exact reserve times. Praying for 3 day trips but expecting 4 day weekends... ugh
