Rough times. Read "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand, then try and care about this silly airline for 3 minutes... bet you won't be able to. Good luck to us all, do what you think is right and stand by it even if/when it gets tough to do so.

Have you guys voted on strike yet? Or plan on coordinating with Alpa in case of a strike for funds to help pay the bills?
I'm surprised the company is the one giving the ultimatum. They know if it's voted down then you guys will seek self help. Quite a risk they're taking. Or maybe management is using the scare tactics of how if you vote this down and strike, they'll threaten to shut the company down. I could see it working on the lyfers.
Wish you guys the best!

Wow.
After 3 years or whatever it's been now of "negotiating" that is all they can come up with?
Remember, from the bottom, you can only go up. And Piedmont is the bottom, unfortunately. For those who can, leave that company, stop wasting your time. For those that can't, best of luck if you walk. If I was still there that sure as sh*t would be a NO vote from me.
Slap in the face is an understatement. They are just making fools of everyone now.

Oh here we go again! We know your concept of a the perfect training department - one where everyone gets a trophy. The "concept" that trained the two pilots playing with a jet a 41,000 feet and the 3407 captain. Do you really think that every 300 hour pilot with 15 hours of multi-engine time can get through this program? If you do, please pass that thing you are smoking.

This is not a new hire issue singularly, I never said it was. I swear, where do you people come up with this crap? If you have been paying attention to anything besides your own ego then you would be informed. Do yourself a favor, call your status rep and ask them to run down JK's little speech he gave to the MEC a while back. Then come back here with some facts to back up your empty rhetoric. Anyone at PDT that believes there is nothing wrong with the training dept is either a member of the training department or the one who is smoking something.
Personally I've never had one issue down there, not in initial, not in CQ, not during upgrade. But I pay attention to reality, talk to my fellow pilots, listen to those who have failures and "special tracks" on their PRIAS that they really didn't deserve. I don't like their attitude or their smug superiority mentality. I have no issue with them because I play the game by their rules but it wears at me every time I walk into that building in CLT. The point being their rules are absurd. And their standards are all over the map depending on whether or not they like you or dislike you personally. I've seen it first hand with sim partners and co-workers. You need to pull your head out of your ass and realize just because you pass without difficulty that does not equate to a problem free environment. Start thinking about someone besides yourself for once.
People will fail down there, that is inevitable. Yes, some of them are not skilled enough to pass and should leave training to more basic flying for a time and that is not the fault of the TD. I never even remotely implied otherwise so nice try...No actually it wasn't. It was kind of weak really.
Look, I know this retort came off as angry but I am just flabbergasted at anyone that comes on here and supports the TD claiming there is no problem down there. Before I upgraded I flew with C/A's that were exceptional aviators that got downgraded over one bad sim ride. Their finances devastated, their careers damaged for what? If our training department is so great then why can't they fix these issues with these pilots and send them back to the line in the left seat where they belong? I don't suggest every downgrade was undeserved, but most of them were really suspect with underlying factors that went beyond performance issues. I've also had a few F/O's of mine tell me they got special tracked and one of them is the best pilot I've ever flown with and he knows more about the Dash, the POH and the FOM then MM or JK combined. What happened to him made no sense. It was clearly personal.
Even Pike and JS admit there is a problem in the TD...There are some fantastic people down there. CJ, RM, WS etc...Some of those guys do everything they can. But they can only go by what the TD admin allows them to do. JK and MM aren't bad people. I think they are both just burned out. And they have been down there too long and have become too detached from the reality of life on the line. A TD should be an ally of a pilot group, not an antagonizer. We should all be working together to stay qualified and skilled. But no, they want to be this autonomous powerhouse that determines whose career lives or dies and I have a problem with that and so should you! Have you ever wondered why they won't release a copy of the AQP manual to the pilot group? It's sort of unrealistic to evaluate people when those people don't really fully understand the standards by which they are being evaluated against. My rep told me the MEC got to look it over a while back. He also told me that if it was released the pilot group would mob march on the doors of the TC with torches and pitchforks! There are real issues down there. To believe otherwise is just total fantasy.
