DHC-8 CA MDT bid awarded for 5 months and 7 days....

Quote: Currently a cfi, really would like to live in Philly and not commute. I will be at 1500 around september and currently Piedmont is my number one choice. The only thing that really concerns me is that it seems almost everyone wants to get away from 50 seat jets like the 145 and most regionals don't even fly turboprops anymore. I just don't see the long term plan for piedmont and hope it won't turn into a comair situation. Can anyone enlighten me on this
Flying an Embraer 175 from PHL to State College PA just doesn't make sense. Flying a Dash from PHL to State College makes all the sense in the world.

Turboprops are far and away more economical than a jet for shorter routes (they burn about 40% less fuel/pax than an rj for many shorter hops). But even if the Dash is completely phased out, PDT will get jets to replace every DHC-8 plus many more. AAL has many plans for PDT and, trust me, none of them involve shutting the company down.

I mean, if you think guaranteeing 20 jets to a company, as well as growing it in size significantly is what a company does when it plans on shutting the doors, then you must be living on a different planet than me.

When you get some face time with boss Hogg, he is very clear what the intention is for piedmont and the expectations.

As far as envoy only getting 170/175 by contract... That is for existing aa routes.. Pdt is flying us airways.. Until the integration is complete I'm sure contracts are going to have to change..

Who is going to fly all those republic flights that operate us airways routes??

That should be interesting since they may go into Chapt. 11

There should be a nice shake up in the regionals this year.

Once you go Chapt. 11 you expose yourself big time. Look for another merger between regionals. AWAC/RAH????? Might sound dumb but that could get AWAC into the big RJ market if they want to move towards the future. Plus who's to say that American/United/Delta doesn't scoop another regional up to secure flying for itself? There's a big play now for pilots.

It doesn't say anything about AA or US routes. it says what is on the books for AAG in the wording. So you guys have no idea but the fact it says E175. where is ours says a specific order where there are options.

#2 is if ENY can't take all the options right now due to APA scope. Not sure how you guys can even think about 76 seat planes.

Yawn...it's too early for this ENY crap today. Our 145 flew it's first revenue flight this morning to ALB, that is worth celebrating
