So let's look into those 'JO special' 28 day bids. From the outside looking in, its clear to see the flaws. LAMA has its perks.
Mesa reserve guys have 104 days off a year (8/month x 13 bid periods)
XJT reserve (or any other respectable airline) guys have 144 days off a year (12 /month x 12 bid periods).
That's right folks, more than AN EXTRA MONTH off each year to be with your family or to just relax. Mesa pilots tend to work an extra month each year just to make less money.
Your 13 bid periods is a smoke and mirror special that makes you think you are getting 'an extra paycheck' when in reality you are just being worked more.
The math is pretty interesting. I'd also like to see the math that figured out that Mesa only has 10 pilots on reserve system wide, paxhauler.
The bar has been lowered and with people continuing to apply to work at Mesa works against market and union forces to lift the bar back up. And JO is just standing right on that bar, weighing it down with his labor lined pockets.
Some people just don't see it. I guess Mesa love really is blind...

I was simply pointing out facts. If you like, scroll through my posts on this site. You will find many that point out my contempt and hatred for JO.
That being said, I do my best to correct people who don't work here and paint an inacurate picture of the work conditions for myself, and my fellow pilots.
In case you didn't catch on, the 10 people on reserve line was sarcasm. It was meant to illustrate how short on people we are.
Does talking down to Mesa make you feel better about:
1) Getting furloughed?
or
2) Yourself, in general?
Bank Angle -
You'll learn soon enough that the entitlement attitude goes a long way. How long have you been a part of this industry?
Note: nwa757: the above is sarcasm.
Whiz-
Not JO's love child, just another pilot who selects a line from the bidpacket.
Eaglefly-
Aren't you a little old to be picking fights with "twenty somethings" on the internet?

Hey Pax, your wasting your breath with alot of these guys. I know alot of people that fly for Mesa and its not really as bad as people on these boards make it out to be. What really amazes me is that alot of them dont even work for Mesa but yet they know so much about the company.

I have to agree with ASTPilot. Are things here great, absolutely not, but they aren't horrible. I have been screwed a couple of times, but also have been released early or helped when the company hasn't had to help me. And, I have been helped 2-3 times more than I have been screwed.
With that said, I have heard that the Mesa cert is quite different than the Freedom cert.

.... I know sitting over there in the right seat of that Piper or Cessna it feels like the bar is about to close and you have to go home with one of the obnoxious fat girls that are left but guess what, the bar will be open again tomorrow night. And most of the pretty girls will be back and maybe your luck will be better. I know for me personally, I'd rather go home alone than go home with the fat chick, have her go crazy and tie me up in her bedroom, make me her man-kitty play thing and not be able to get out for 10 years. Places like Mesa are that fat girl. Some guys are into that. I'm not. Strange analogy, I know, but it's been concocted over too many nights spent in hotel bars and when you think about it, it works.
Cheers and good luck with your career.[/QUOTE]
I love it! Normally I would say to "go ugly early", but in this case I agree you.
Cheers and hang in there.
