I know about time building and seniority its called being sarcastic, its funny that when someone says something about you its insulting all of a sudden. But when you come on here on a daily basis and insult people who are chasing the same dream that you are its totally okay.

Sarcasm....yeah I don't think so. Nice try. As far as insulting you and the others chasing the dream, if you'd open your eyes and mind and not get so wrapped around the axle when someone actually tries to give you advice based on experience, not emotion (like I have), then maybe you'd learn something. but it seems you've made up your mind no matter what experience tells you so good luck. You'll need it.

BUT, one tastes a hell of a lot better than the other. (They both still smell pretty bad). The only dream you chase at MAG is for a correct paycheck.

Like i said brainwashed out of the state of AZ... DO what you gotta do noone can obviously change that. but to you those shiny RJ's look good coming out of college but jumpin into that company is something you should ask yourself about, and dont just do it cause you can or cause its cool...

and to answer your previous questions... I would still be an FO because my number is not up yet for upgrade...if you really have to ask why i am an FO still you have some learning to do... You dont make captain by experience, knowledge, or any of that... if you have ATP mins when your number comes up... do some studying and you upgrade.. youll learn this when you get in big guy.

I dont want to go back to instructing but i still have renewed my CFI for backup of course. I think youre assuming im very new to ask why i dont just go back to instructing...i have some time in and got in where im at, at a good time, i'm safe (for now) but never feeling safe. i taught at a good airline academy and built a lot of time. my life story isnt the point though and im not a regional god of knowledge, but everyone here has learned a lil bit about whats going on and we are trying to pass that on. If you havent figured out mesa by now and their effects on this industry (along with a few others) then youre in for a good one and be prepared...

Default Not So Bad

I have to say that I am very happy I quit instructing to come to Mesa. I have more days off and I am making way more money, I also don't have nearly the amount of stress that is involved in sending off students on solos and hoping that don't come back with a number from the FAA for me to call, or signing off for checkrides and hoping they don't screw something up that they have done perfect fifty times before. Say what you want about Mesa but I have had a descent experience and I am happy to come to work and do something I love. When I was at UND everyone wanted Air Wisky or Horizon. Many of those people that went there will soon be furloughed. Oh and a couple of my flight instructors went to Skyway. Then when I started flight instructing everyone I worked with wanted to go to XJT or Republic. Many of them were going to those places when I came to Mesa and they are now being furloughed. I still have my job, how secure who knows. I have been getting 11 or 12 days off per bid and I have never had to sleep anywhere except a hotel room while working for Mesa, so you can all quit spewing that crap. Regionals are about one thing: gaining experience and moving on. My regional is better than your regional is stupid. They are all crap shoots and todays " top tier" is tomorrows bankrupt. I've worked Mcdonalds, retail, busted my back daily working construction. I am really happy to have the job I have and I think a little perspective can do wonders. We fly airplanes and get paid to do so. Maybe I am short sided and bringing down the industry but I am happy and my bills get paid so whatever.

Thats great man. If you feel your experience has been tolerable then thats good. I felt that way until I investigated a "top tier" regional, made the jump and now that I have perspective I can see how much better ANY other regional is. I've managed to avoid furlough (for now) and I am 110% glad I left. If all you have to compare Mesa to is some stressbox instructing job then yes, its better. BUT, understand there is a whole new world out there outside of Mesa and its lightyears better.

And the door is shut, locked, and deadbolted for a while.... Quit bashing people who are trying to make the best of a bad situation when no one is hiring. Does it really affect you? no... So what do you care if someone goes to a "bottom feeder"? Too many people say "its not about the size of the plane, yada yada yada".. but we didnt get into this industry to flight instruct in a 172... MOST places (not all) you cant make a living flight instructing. I work full time (probably 50 hours a week), and am still below the poverty line... ANY regional is better than what im doing right now, and a lot of instructors are in the same boat.

Get this thread back on track and quit bashing those who are trying to better themselves by moving up (no matter how small the move up may be)....

I used to feel the same way. But after 2.5 years in this crazy business I have come to the realization that I would fly around in a 152 dressed like Ronald McDonald if it payed $170K/year, full benefits (including travel) and I could be home every night.

Ok I will definitely give you that... Hell id instruct in a gorilla suit for 170k... but making about 3-600 every two weeks and no travel benefits and a grand total of 7-8 days off a month is definitely not worth it... and thats working more than full time! PLEASE tell me im nuts for wanting ANYTHING better...

Dude relax. Going to a bottom feeder is NOT ok "just to get in to the industry". I did it and I regret doing it for a myriad of reasons. Keep furthering the race to the bottom. You'll do great at GoJet. Educate yourself before you decide to lash out and those who have experience and are trying to help those that don't.
