Well, I spoke to soon, it wasn't just a pink slip for furlough. It was a "probationary pilots can be fired at any time" FU from the regional.
So this top tier regional is reducing headcount by firing new-hires two weeks short of their one-year anniversary and out of seniority order.
No, I'm not naming it. I'll let others start squawking and naming names when they get the pink slip.
Thanks for all those that have provided decent comments. If, and that's a big "if", Mesa considers me worthy and doesn't furlough first, I'll be headed for the Dash, but most likely end up wherever they want me.

No one is applying to go jets. Don't call me out for not supporting orgainzed labor. I was wearing "1985 IAM stike T-shirts" when I was in pre-school. The fact is treat a Regional what it is, they all suck and its a stepping stone to something else. Don't ever call anyone a scab because the timing has changed and now 1000 hours cannot get you to a so called "top tier" regional. No picket lines have been crossed, so no "Scab" work has been performed, by ANYONE at Mesa. End rant.
You do contradict yourself a bit, saying a regional is what it is, they all suck, stepping stone, get in get out, blah blah blah. Then you turn around and tell me not to call someone a scab because timing isn't on their side (which I didn't) and acknowledge that 1000 hours isn't the magic number it used to be. Boo hoo. You are better off flying the patch a bit longer and waiting for the right company to come around rather than jumping at the first thing that says comes along. Chances are you will be at a regional longer than you thought so you better pick a good one. I know when I got on here at XJT upgrades were running right at 2 years or just a bit under. I'm now midway through my third year with no upgrade in sight. Same for my friends over at RAH. I know sitting over there in the right seat of that Piper or Cessna it feels like the bar is about to close and you have to go home with one of the obnoxious fat girls that are left but guess what, the bar will be open again tomorrow night. And most of the pretty girls will be back and maybe your luck will be better. I know for me personally, I'd rather go home alone than go home with the fat chick, have her go crazy and tie me up in her bedroom, make me her man-kitty play thing and not be able to get out for 10 years. Places like Mesa are that fat girl. Some guys are into that. I'm not. Strange analogy, I know, but it's been concocted over too many nights spent in hotel bars and when you think about it, it works.
Cheers and good luck with your career.

).I'm not sure what you have to hide from but saying what company you work for might add some credibility to your claim. Unless the 5 digits after "maria" are your employee number or something, I think your anonymity will be preserved.

Ignorance.
A) We are CONSTANTLY in ALPA sponsored suits against management. Mesa pilots as a whole would LOVE to take a hard-nosed stance against Management, but RLA dictates other prior measures must be taken.
B) MESA Pilots which again you pointed out to be the source of all your heartache, had NOTHING TO DO with Mesa's move to Hawaii. That was all our slimy management's call.
C) NO airline starts you at $40K a year with 15+ days off.
Mesa pilots were whipsawed against non-union pilots during our '02 CBA. To get all of the flying ALPA unionized (which as an Expressjet pilot your a member of) we lost EVERYTHING. So in the future, stop BASHING your fellow ALPA brothers and sisters, and help us work towards a higher quality contract in our current negotiations.

We're open to suggestion but if JO had it, he would have you working for less. Let us ALPA brothers and sisters know how we can help raise your 8 days off a month.
PS- Any pilot that bid to fly in Hawaii DID have everything to do with go! getting started out there. Sure, your slimy management never would have made it out there without pilots, but he sure did find some!
Defending Mesa is impossible, so why do you do it? My take is that for every day that you work for Mesa and keep it running, you are supporting the race to the bottom. I don't think I am the only one with that view.

Ahhhh, "top tier regionals" don't fire probationary pilots just to reduce the workforce. That's something crapbag companies do. Share with us the name of your employer, if you do indeed have one.

Well is Eagle considered top tier because I know someone that had it happen to them at Eagle after 9/11. I think managment will do whatever they think they can get away with. They don't mind ruining someone's life if it saves a few bucks.

That is a HYSTERICAL analogy! Go home alone (CFI longer) go home with the fat girl (Mesa.)

HA! Oh man you have no idea... Dash is senior be prepared to have no life for at least 2 years. I was a mesa pilot, I have no regrets so far in my short aviation career because through it all I've gotten some good experience and met interesting people. However the only thing that I could have done differently was to never have gone to MESA. In hind sight instructing would have been better, financially and mentally. Don't be stuck at Mesa for years because you couldn't get a job in the summer of 08.
