Anyone heard anything? In other words, has anyone heard what this announcement MIGHT be?
Delta announced the other day that they were looking to dump 100 CRJ's.
So the "parking airplanes" rumor is more than likely true.
I would assume that this may be the big announcement, but who knows.
I was Just wondering what all the others at ASA has been hearing.

Wow...that's a lot of planes. I wonder what the breakdown would be if this is true. We already know of Comair's 14 CRJs, the XJet ERJs, and the CHQ -135s, plus whatever happens with the whole Freedom thing...

Lots of people, especially those in the training department, are pushing the rumor of us getting United flying out of D.C. due to Mesa and we'll need something like 32 airplanes and 150 pilots to cover it. On the other hand, Orlando flying sounds like it will be coming to a stop in the fall (with an avg of 8-12 pax on those legs, I believe it) and add to that we are losing 12 ATRs and have 3 wrecked airframes. That's 150 more pilots than we currently need. Sounds like it is really a flip of the coin, and worrying about it won't do any good.

Well I was in for my LOFT this week and an IP told me he had talked to SH and he said they were no plans to furlough and that we'd rather sit with with extra pilots just in case we get some extra flying down the road. Plus we have a no furlough clause in our contract anyways.

We may not furlough, but there may be downgrades and paycuts in the form of those downgrades, lineholders blocking 90+ going to reserve (75 hr guarantee) and much lower line values, probably closer to 75 hrs each. There will be a ton of people on reserve (150+), covering less flying. (Great if you don't want to fly much)
Better than anyone losing their jobs. Look for upgrades back to the 5-6 year range.
