Um............Thats what message boards are for, right. People discuss what they hear is going on, and then give an opinion on it. You certainly are not required to read them or post.

People can say whatever they want on a public forum. Thanks for your opinion though.

Hey man, I like you better as a pessimist. It's much more fun listening to your type whine!

You should be grateful:

Grateful that you are at an airline that hasn't announced furloughs;
Grateful that you are at an airline that has a no furlough contract;
Grateful that you were able to upgrade before the music stopped;
Grateful that you are at an airline that is bidding on extra flying;
Grateful that you have a pilot friendly CEO;
Grateful that you are not on the bottom of anyone's seniority list;
Grateful that you don't have a wife and kids to feed and no job to do so;
Grateful that you aren't on furlough, or just plain out of a job;

Yes these are all positive things about which you should be positive!

Ah the tea leaves....yes, the tea leaves they show a big downslope from left to right....ah yes there it is. I definately see a downgrade in your future. Wait, there's something to be positive about. After all, as a senior FO you'll once again be able to get your first pick on lines each month. Again, something to be positive about!

Hi Folks,

I'm new to the forum... Currently, I'm swimming in the ASA hiring pool. Anyone care to share any scuttlebutt about ASA's economic/hiring situation? I wish the company would provide us with an information webpage to check in with.

I'll not present scuttlebutt or rumors.. but I can state facts. We're offering leaves of absence to anyone who wants them.. started at flight crews only; today the memo went out to the whole company that early retirements and leaves of absence are available company-wide.

Here's the scuttlebutt: No hiring until we get more planes. Can't lost a fleet of aircraft with the same number of pilots then hire more! We're already really fat on pilots and will remain that way until we somehow fly out current fleet at 150% (obviously impossible), lose alot of pilots to other jobs (not happening for a long time), or get more equipment. Until then, I'd keep swimming.

Thanks for the input, Banshee365. I've got other irons in the fire that need tending to..

Hi!

I'm surprised a steady stream of pilots aren't leaving ASA for better jobs. They are at Pinnacle, and I talked to a Compass guy who said they also have a constant number of guys leaving for Asia.

Maybe ASA is better than the above, so hardly anyone is leaving.

I've been flying 30hrs max for the last 2 months on reserve and there are about 100 guys/gals behind me. You could say we are "a little fat". Could be a h*ll of a lot worse though........
