Why is it being freakin negative?!?!?!?

It is a fact of where we are and what is going on in this industry! Do you read the news? Start with the AJC. Delta execs have said they are shedding 100 RJ's this fall! Even spread evenly over ASA, Skywest, Comair, and Repub/CHQ that is a lot of planes! 20 or so each. Why do people feel ASA will make out any better than the others?????

Look industry wide! Eagle, Express Jet, Air Wisc, TSA, PSA, Comair to name a few have all announced large furlough numbers! Why is it negative to expect something similar at ASA. (Even though I said we may not furlough)
Every Major is now bleeding money again, and downsizing. Bankrupcy's may be looming for many. Am I making this stuff up. I know, some may not want to hear it, but sorry, get your head out of the sand. Tough times are ahead! This is going to be a major downturn in the airlines. With that comes stagnation, lack of attrition which in turn leads to long upgrades, etc....

Maybe I should just ignore all of the obvious facts and state 'hey, it's all great! No worries! I think lots of growth is coming...........It's rediculous! Any way, the poster asked whats the latest with ASA. Thats my opinion, based on what I see and what I have heard. The Union is even putting out info that we will be cut big time in the fall. I have personally heard about 20-25 planes less flying.

BTW......where is all that growth that was coming our way, "as soon as we sign the contract?" Thats all everyone was saying last year......90 seaters coming as soon as we sign. New bases for sure, right! Where did all that rosey talk get you. It's the difference between being a dreamer and actually looking at the industry, the economy and listening to what your parent company is saying.

Show me a positive sign, and I'll be positive.

PS...I'm already going from a line-holder, back to reserve......and we haven't even lost flying yet!!! That is about a $1500/month paycut (Which is SIZABLE!!!!) between 90+ hours back to min guarantee! With downsizing in our schedules coming and no growth or attition to speak of, it's probably going to take a year or more to see another line, so I am already feeling it.

Try looking at the glass full for once. Maybe something good will happen. The foreseeable future of aviation is no further than tomorrow. Any furthur than that, well we can only hope all those people pushing for a better industry will do so. I've already seen improvements. Things at ASA have only gotten better.

Ok guys.....

Where are the 100 RJ's coming out of DCI coming from?

What is your opinion? Who is going to feel the pain in the fall? Only Comair? Freedom? They fly 30....that leaves 70 more. Let me hear where you think they are coming from, if not ASA, because things are going so great here! Yes, things are working better here. BH and the new style management is going great. But - come fall, things are going to change. 100 RJ's are going away. That is a fact! You don't need Wilbur and Orville to tell you that. Richard Anderson says it fine. There is also a merger, with the whole goal of being to reduce capacity......and the retirement of the ATR, with no replacement coming. Did you see the displacement bid?

Instead of slamming my opinion, which I try to base on facts, offer an idea on what you think is happening and use some facts to base it on.

How is that negative. I think its positive. Not getting furloghed and making guarantee to chill out and have another job... you can make a ton of money if you never have to fly and get another gig going. 150 pilots on reserve would be much better than making exactly $0 per month and being in a similar situation.

How can anyone look at the industry today and think "the glass is half full"? I sit around for weeks on reserve without flying now, what's it gonna be like in the fall? And if things get really bad, the no furlough clause only applies to people who's names were on the seniority list when the contract was signed. I'm glad to be at ASA, and I think we have good leadership, but we're far from immune to all the negativity in the industry right now.

While I would like to think the glass is half full, look around at what is happening to everyone else. The company says that they want to keep us all which is great news, especially for the ones at the bottom (me included). The painful truth is, that could change in an instant. For example my furlough letter from Big Sky Airlines still had our CEO's favorite saying, "You'll like where we're going!," as they were closing the doors and liquidating the company. I would like to believe all is well and we will come out of this unscathed, but deep down I feel bad news coming.

Add 17 135s from CHQ. They come offline Sept. 30.

This pretty much sums it up. We know the 100 RJ's thing this true. Every DCI carrier has had the fall schedule. The news at comair is just coming out before ASA's. Plus is doesn't help our cause when we are piling up planes which caused over 100 CX flights.

What ASA is doing right now is hoping another regional will close up shop, that I can almost guarantee.

is anyone else truly evaluating how pathetic this thread has become? The lack of info on a big announcement now has people arguing as to who is more negative about the industry. Bottom line enjoy it while it lasts, if things improve then its great for ASA but if they dont, what does b*tching on APC really accomplish?

"But brad said this, but oh this RJ FO told me this when i was on the jumpseat, yeah but i heard from the van driver that..."

Look at more porn, ***** on APC less
