I went through something similar after a telephone company sent something to collections without successfully contacting me first (allegedly for not paying a bill over 4 years ago). You have rights (I don't remember what they are, but google is your friend). I sent them some letters, formally disputed the claim, and generally made a PITA out of myself. They seem to have given up and there's nothing on my credit report.

Oh and flycrj200 do some research on FDCPA. debt may be legitimate or not that does not give any company to send you straight to a Collections Agency after 1.4 years without ever sending you any bill the point is company has rights and the consumer has rights aswell what Comair is doing may not be Illegal but it sure aint Ethical either...

Hey fly, how long you been at this company. I have been here almost 9 years and payroll gets it screwed up at least once a quarter. The guy isn't saying he isn't going to pay it, but why should he pay extra to these vermin. I payroll deducted once, and those idiots continued to deduct every month beyond what I owed. I finally threatened to take the union to the G.O. and they stopped. I got paid a check of the over payments shortly after the threat. I am sure he is going to pay if it is warranted, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was ANOTHER payroll error...

I also have recived a letter telling me I owe Comair. When I was leaving without finishing OE I asked about that and was told they didnt know. Now a year later I magically went to collections with out so much as one bill. Im not paying. If they touch my credit Ill sue. It wont cost me a dime I have lawyers in the fam. and for the one who say we should just pay...feel free to send mine in.
