Default Comair and collections

Left Comair 1.4 years ago and got a call from collections today that I owe $333 on my uniform. I never got a bill or anything and they confiscated my last check i thought for my uniform. Any one else get this from them who left there? They sent it right to collections?!?

Once again, I am almost embarrassed to work here. They called me a few months ago, because I had a pager that I never turned in 3 years ago and said that if I didn't return it that they were going to charge me 100.00 for it. In the contract is says the cost of a pager is around 45 or 50.00 or something like that.

I believe small claims court is anything over 300.00

If you owe the money, you have to pay it. You can check with payroll to find how much you owe.

how do you all owe money for uniforms, even after 3.5 years.

at pinnacle they pay for half of your uniform, and payroll deduct the rest in installments every check till it is paid off. mine was paid off in under a year. do you keep ordering stuff from them? does comair have their own uniform department?

Crew Outfitters has a store here in CVG and they allowed us to pretty much get anything there and have it payroll deducted at about $25 a paycheck min. So in addition to uniforms people probably had rollaboards, flight cases, headsets, etc. to pay for. Which as we all know gets expensive quick. They have since stopped this program except for new-hires, they can still get uniforms deducted. Even current employees are being asked to pay up quick. Not sure on the time table there was a memo about a month ago about it.

It's in the contract. Well, since the contract changed after you left... 7.G.6:

... If the pilots' (sic) last paycheck does not have sufficient funds available for the adjustment, the Company will assume the liability for the remaining amount. The intent here is that that no pilot will be required to provide monies to the company in excess of any moneys which may be available in the pilot's last paycheck.

The topic is Vacation payout, but the "intent" is clearly stated that you don't owe Comair more than what your last paycheck can cover.

ALPA doesn't have a CBA with FlightStation, so you'll have to read the fine print when you payroll deducted your junk. You kept the paperwork for that, didn't you?

The remaining balance of current employees must be repaid in the next 20 paychecks, I believe.......
