Abso-freakin-lutely, we can only hope they fire you because then you get to come back with a lawyer and get to take all that money from management that they so scr*wed us out of.

2 sick calls per year is NOTHING. What airline do you work for where two sick calls per year is alot?

Go onto WestLaw's website and read the legal decisions on sick time. I'll save you the trouble... basically, if you have sick time still in your sick bank, then by federal precedents, you are NOT a sick time abuser no matter what your employer thinks. They can do whatever they want, even fire you.... simply sue them, and you will win, including all your lost pay, to include your pattern of overtime.... they lose these all the time, but by being firm, they keep the masses in line. So, on their balance sheet, it is worth it to once in a a while pay somebody a years worth of back pay by keeping everybody else at work....

DO NOT fall for this crap.

Additionally, the FAR's are very specific... if you are sick, you CAN NOT fly.

One last thought.... have any of you actually looked at the recent HIPA laws?
The requirement for a doctors note can be a violation under many conditions. Most airlines have not changed their sick reporting and clearing procedures to be HIPA compliant. Poke around a little, you may be surprised.

Its pathetic. With my leaving early, this 2 day turned into a 3 day trip. I will make about $250 bucks on this trip.

I am trying so hard to stay positive and upbeat about this job. SO HARD! I work for one of the crappiest companies under one of the crappiest contracts.

This trip ends with a deadhead from ORD to STL. When you are coming home from a trip and the deadhead flight is full, they'll leave your butt! So, I could limo home. However, they posted a memo that they'll deduct the cost of the seat from your paycheck if you don't ride a scheduled deadhead. You can arrange with scheduling to limo, but it has to be done 10 days in advance. I won't know whether to limo until I find out I am bumped. Its just unbelievable how much crap we put up with to fly airplanes.

i didn't read that they were going to deduct anything from your pay. As per my memory, it simply said that United was going to charge the company for unused Dead Heads. There's a problem in the logic though, if we were to Limo to an assignment and not tell the company, sure, they'll get an 80 dollar charge because we didn't use the positive space deadhead. But, as you stated, if the flight is full on the way home, you're hanging out in chicago for the night. What's that mean? You're not positive space, you have no ticket, you bought no seat, and, as the memo stated, United was upset because revenue passengers could have used the seats as opposed to you, which in a "non-rev" situation (that our deadheads are) you wouldn't be bumping ANYONE!

It's the same situation if you list a friend with a buddy pass on united, if they don't show up, united doesnt care, and won't charge you a segment surcharge for it. They didn't fly, revenue got on, who cares. Same for management. I'd just tell you to take the Memo, and insert it into RZ where the sun don't shine.

So you think if I get bumped from the DH, I should just limo home and not look back? Obviously they aren't bumping revenue, they are bumping ME!

Who has the United Non Rev number? I've never jumpseated on United before, always AA and SWA. Can I list at the gate?

You don't get positive space for a company assigned deadhead?

If you are going home and they aren't benefiting from you anymore, no positive space. I've been left in Chicago before on a company assigned deadhead. We're just property, not people.

If you need to be in position and a deadhead flight is needed to get you there, then you will have a seat, even if it is the jump seat.
