For the guys saying learn from your brothers that have done this before I say.
YOUR RIGHT!
That is what ALPA should help us with. Why shouldnt there be an official committee for negotiations who have done this all before, and then a "slow down" committee that knows ways to spread advice in a legal matter, or how to organize the pilot group so they can do it on their own.
So far I feel that 9E is cut off from the great resources of ALPA national during this whole thing. And I think now and in the future we should try to correct this. I would love for out brothers at NWA, United, and comair could share their expertise on getting contracts, or atleast organizing slow downs

CVR's cannot be used in legal action or anything in the sort against a pilot they are only allowed to be used to find the reason for an accident that occured.
The company will often listen to the recorders to see if the pilots are following procedures and what not and appropriate calls but are not allowed to go after any pilot for what was said on the recorder.
This comes out of part 121.

Really? Thats interesting. Never heard of that before. So they pay someone to listen to the CVR? Even though it only records for like 120 minutes?

Yah sweet job there. No they will grab one randomly and listen for a little bit just to see how things are going when there isnt a check airman on the jumpseat.
Talkin to someone who does it and they cant believe some of the things that us pilots will talk about once that door closes.

Not sure who it is, but I've been seeing this dude around wearing his hat and ipod earphones...***? For all the money Jet Uers pay, you'd think they'd get a lesson on uniform etiquitte (not sure if this guy was a JetUer, just playing with the hilariousness of it all).
