First and foremost: I will put a 1900 driver up against an RJ guy any day.

You're correct though, Lakes pilots don't make that much even as captains. If you want to make a regional a career then you should go for the pay and QOL (Lakes has neither). But if you want to be in a position to move to a major when things open up (and they will), then you better get your PIC time.
You will do that faster at Lakes then just about anywhere else. It would suck to meet a great connection at FedEx but they can't help you out because you are stuck in the right seat with no PIC. A buddy of mine is in that position and he wishes he had gone to Lakes.

Training is 4-6 weeks. FYI lowest time guy in the most recent class had about 650. Most were well over 1000 TT.

Are they still hiring captains? And if not what is the progression as of late? Thanks!

Lakes was never hiring street captains. The newerst captains that we have are guys who have been CA's here and have moved on to the majors but have recently gotten furloghed. These people are ones that left and did not burn the bridge.

Not sure if this is correct. I interview in early September for a street captain position, and turned the offer down after getting activated in the guard. I was told they want at least 300 hours tubo prop time at a minimum for street captains. The captain who interviewed me said someone with ATP minimums should be able to upgrade in four months.

I stand corrected. Apologies to every one.
