Its all about work rules and days off. The job is just that, a job. Fun yes, but just like every other working person, you cannot wait for your days off. We just tend to get a lot more than normal people. The pay will come, eventually, well maybe it won't but used the benefits and make the job worth it. I enjoy my 17 days off a month so I cannot complain about this job

17 days off? Where do you work? Cause we have people here for 22 years not getting a day over 15. If you have been here 5 years you might wiggle 12 a month.
And the pay is crap because people like you think that just doing the job is enough satisifaction and money isn't important. Well other people expect that a doing a good job deserves good money. Money that we use to feed our families. If flying is your hobby then rent a 172 and let the professionals work for income.

What benefits are you talking about? Travel? thats a joke, you can't go anywhere anymore cause all the seats are taken. It isn't a lot of fun going on vacation....(1 week your first year)...and finding out that you can't make it back because the flight is oversold. Try explain to your spouse that they aren't going back home to feed the cats.

Pay....yeah it sucks, but with our growth, I will be able to upgrade when I get ATP mins so another 5 months or so. The whole industry is about timing and luck. Time a company just right its really not that bad. So many of the "good" regionals I heard about a year ago arent doing so hot anymore. I'm sure at some point my company will head back down the toilet, I just hope to time it right to be outta here when it happens.

whhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa uuuuuuuuuuuuuppppppppp
whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaapppppppppppppp uuuuuuuuuuuupppppp
Anyone who likes this job hasn't been in the industry long enough! Or they just don't have enough common sense to realize that 3.75 hours of pay for sitting 9 hours of ready reserve; just isn't right.

But you keep showing up to work don't you. So you think its wrong but you will sit it anyway?
If its so wrong, stop doing it. Just quit, there are plenty of other people willing to sit. I myself have never sat ready reserve so I would not know but instead of complaining, why not do something to improve your situation. Obviously complaining isnt working very well so maybe another career would be better. Everyone knows the deal when they start and we all know how things can change as well. If you want to make your own rules, start your own business and be your own boss.

BTW i would love to fly a 330 but i wouldn't fly it for what i am making now. What you have to understand is that Airline Management are preditors. They look for your weakness and jump on it.
You like your job so much that you will do it for poverty pay. Managment knows this and take advantage of it. But it doesn't have to be this way. You can like your job, be good at it and get paid well for it.
It can be a win-win for your passengers you and management. But managements greed is taking away your comfortable retirement. If i was you i would be very very upset with that.

So you don't get 17 days off. You get your 10 plus you are on reserve right? So they don't use you those 7 other days. Those aren't days off.

Haha, never sat straight reserve. I held a line right after my green line so never sat it other than getting trips pulled. Like I said, its all about timing.
Poverty pay, not quite. It all depends on your situation. I am young and single with no loans so I do just fine. Is it ridiculously low, yes, but its not going to go down.
I really feel this industry is about the situation you put yourself in and the decisions you make. Paying 100K to get in is stupid, of course it is not worth that. But if you don't pay for it, then it can be worth it as you arent paying off a student loan. If you have a family trying to live off your regional FO pay, well this may not have been a good career choice.

How is 25k a year not poverity? Do you live in the armpit of america?
Your pay is going down every year whether you believe it or not. It's called inflation...How about that 5 year contract you signed...Well thats going to turn into a 10 year contract. There is this thing called "time value or money" do some research on it and get back to us.
How much did you pay to get in? Since you don't have loans and you've been here maybe a year, I'm guessing Mommy and Daddy paid?
Give yourself a few more years. You'll learn a few things. You sound like every newbie I hear saying how great things are.

I'd venture to guess you've been in the airlines for MAYBE a year. Wait til there is a downturn in the industry. Remember what happened to Mesaba few years ago....Deja VU........

Inflation is going up for everyone, it doesn't matter what field you are in, nobody is really making anymore more money if you look at it that way.
Thats right, I was fortunate. Its not my fault but it was the hand I was dealt and I am going to play it accordingly.
If you do not like this industry so much....then leave it. It will be better off without you complaining and dragging everyone down. There are better paying jobs, yes, but I like working less than half the days of the month and doing whatever I please the rest of the month. Like I said from the first post, work rules and days off. I like the position I am in so I am staying.

You should really educate yourself and how much money you are losing. How is your airlines 401k plan? I bet its medicore at best. 1% could be the difference between $0 and $500,000.
