So ill say this again, take a peak at a GLakes CA year 1 at $27 an hour and then compare. Also do it for a Mesa airlines second year FO on a jet, who is really lowering the bar?

Ok, so you're making around 30 grand a year flying single-engine, VMC, and at 10,000 feet? Yee haw. I'm not trying to start a flame war, but our 1st year Captains actually average around 34 grand a year and that's just the 75 hr guarantee + per diem. The ABQ Captains probably average 43 grand a year. Yeah the pay still sucks but I wouldn't exactly consider that "lowering the bar." Especially flying a 19 seat turboprop.

Question:

Since you don't need a type for the caravan (under 12.5... though not sure about the turbine bit), if you are an SIC, when can you log PIC in the caravan? I read you go through the same training and check? Only on Pt 91 legs empty? 135 empty legs? Never?

In the caravan as an SIC you can log PIC whenever you are the sole manipulator of the flight controls. That is because you don't need a type. So yes, you can log Turbine PIC when you have your hands on the controls.

So your saying if your 300hr SIC for a 135 outfit and its your leg to fly with passengers you can log PIC??? That doesnt make sense because even VFR 135 captains have minimum requirements before they can even become PIC's let alone flying IFR. I would check with your Chief before logging PIC as an SIC with a 135 outfit.

Nothing will look worse in your logbook than logging a bunch of PIC time when 1.) Your 8410, 297 and 293 are for the SIC checkout and 2.) Your logging legs as PIC with passengers and not meeting the minimum requirements to be a PIC whether it be VFR 500tt or IFR 1200tt. Dont be foolish..

I worked for PW in New Mexico and Georgia before being fired over a lie. Myself and 3 other pilots were fired for trying to let another pilot from another 121 airline get a jumpseat. We attempted to contact upper management about getting him some sort of jumpseat or discounted rate and were told absolutely NO. So we made the guy pay for a ticket and 2 days later we were fired for "trying to smuggle someone on board" which was completely an exaggeration. In my time with PW I witness about a dozen pilots fired in a 6 month period. Since then I know of 9 more being fired in the last 3 months. This is a complete crap company I beleive they do very shady operations and that they will fire anyone who they are threatened by who are usually the better and safer pilots, and keep the idiots who shouldn't be flying to begin with. And on a further note I wouldn't recommend management to run a lemonade stand. RUn away

Thats sounds about right. PW is a horrible company. You should check the labor laws, I think this is illegal.

It was TEN that were terminated without cause, as I was one of them.
