Yeah, I realized what you meant. I was simply saying I have yet to fly with anyone at Mesa that is that unprofessional and immature. Disappointing a SkyWest guy would do that, I know many SkyWest pilots and their all very professional.

Yes, we're in year 12 of it.... and the vast majority of other regionals are still playing catch up on the pay and work rules that we've had in our 12 year old contract.... thanks alot guys for finally keeping up.

I'll put my 12 year old 16 year contract against your current one anytime...

I can assure you if I still work for Mesa in 2010, I will fight even harder for the new contract.

Absolutely! Winglet's post impressed me also. I've only been with the Airline for a year, and the things I've seen have opened my eyes. However, we are all doing something we sacrificed and worked our butts off for and we need to be supporting each other. I love jumpseating on Southwest because those guys are always nice to us. We are all in this together, we do need to treat each other with respect. We all deserve it.

I encourage everyone to contact their LEC/MEC for more information about the Fee For Departure Task Force. There is a lot of good stuff going on behind the scenes and the information is available through ALPA if you ask for it. It's not available to the public for obvious reasons. Contract standards, one seniority list, etc are the things being addressed.

Seeing that Mesa brought the standard up a bit, this is something that can be used to form higher standards in the future. The potential certainly exists with so many contracts becoming amendable in the future.

It's only going to work if everyone is one board with the idea that we have to stop doing each another pilot's job for less and allowing management to shift flying around to the cheapest bidder without any repercussion. This includes people like GoJet pilots, who think its ok to underbid union flying.

As ALPA pilots our choice is clear; either we find a way to work together or we will continue to freefall together in a race to the bottom.

Last October at the ALPA BOD meeting 15 MEC's on the Fee-For-Departure Committee met to formulate a strategy to combat many of the problems noted in this thread.

Summit participants received presentations on the demographic trends among FFDC pilot groups and the economic outlook for the industry. Representatives from the contract survey and contract template working groups reported on the outcome of their work in these areas. Capt. Tom Wychor (MSA) facilitated the group’s discussions on the strategic plan, career protection coordination, and advancing the group’s mutual goals through continued collaboration, consultation and discussion among the FFDC MECs, the ALPA Collective Bargaining Committee (CBC), and representatives from other ALPA pilot groups. The FFDC MECs will continue their work and plan to meet again in 2009.

This Fee-for-Departure-Committee is the kind of thing we all need to encourage our individual MEC's to focus on. Everyone reading this please spread the word about the upcoming "coordinated" negotiations and how important it is going to be to help each other obtain the goal of an industry standard that we can all live with. Explain to those who don't understand that we are in this together. Every one of us needs to do our part to improve our chosen profession and only then will we receive the respect we deserve.

May your next contract be "industry leading", and if not, may the "worst contract in the industry" be a contract we can all be proud of.
