Delta hoses ASA again on pass benefits.

BTW my friend at Republic says Delta is doing the same to them so there goes that "Delta hoses ASA" theory....

unfortunately what once was a "perk" is now just not worth it as an airline employee. ASA is a vendor to DAL, why shouldn't a DELTA PILOT have priority over some other airline pilot, regional, or mainline?. Heck it is cheaper to fly on SoutWest then it is to get a buddy pass on CAL (some cases), but it is just the way it goes. I always thought if the seats were empty why make your own employee pay, but unfortunately airlines look at their employees as either indentured servants, or a source for an interest free loan, ie. take money from through pay cuts or charging them to fly in an otherwise empty seat, just the way it goes....

Here is the reason why. Delta is the contractor and ASA is the sub contractor. You work for us and Delta makes the rules. It is that simple folks. It is the ugliest truth in this business but as many in the DCI field are finding out lately anyone who is a subcontractor can be easily replaced.

Does that mean anyone should treat you with nay less respect?, absolutely not but gate agents and F/A's have to feel better then someone.
It was common when folks wanted to rid the US of slavery, the dirt poor white folks didnt want to abolish it, even though they couldn't afford slaves, they felt that as long as there were "slaves" they were at least better then someone. Sad but true, and even sadder that some "mainline folks" act this way, but it is hardly ever a pilot, so that should make ya feel better
History lesson: The term "redneck" comes from people who couldn't afford slaves so they did the work in the field by themselves, so the sun beat on them all day long, their necks got burned and SHAZAAAAM, "redneck"

Well that is just part of the nature of being a contractor. We rely on our DL contract to operate. W/O it we have no jobs.

This is the most ignorant thread I've read since the election and God help the poor FO's that fly with someone this angry. And thanks for letting us know how ASA pilots feel about Delta's passengers and employees.
$200 is cheaper than what I paid per year commuting ATL-EWR on CAL by a large amount thanks to no cass for several years. And if you think DAL is screwing America's S Airline (as you guys put it) over so much then try this, create your own branded flying in some of those spacious CRJ-200s... or just play by DALs rules.
And personally, I'd worry a heck of a lot more about the future of 50 seaters and DCI than I would about travel benefits. DAL is out for change and the reduction in 50 seaters is only a part of it, look at Coex in LAX as a structural model.
AND SHUT OFF YOUR **** APU'S OVER THERE WHEN YOU'RE TAXING ON BOTH ENGINES. We're not paying $30 barrel right now.

#2... if you read this thread you'll see that it is mainly just 1 ASA guy saying this. I agree, $200.00 is cheaper then by the mile.

However, that being said, from a business/managerial perspective every regional airline flying for a major carrier is essentially an expendable resource. Unless the regional has it's own brand of flying, the cereal brand regional airline does not analyze and examine market trends searching for the most profitable routes.
Regional airline flying is subsidized by mainline flying, that's not to say anyone's flying is better than anyone else's, it merely means that as soon as it becomes prudent to put bigger planes on certain routes there will without a doubt be capacity cuts. I worked at a regional for 5 years, and I said the same thing then that I'll say now;
All the flying done at the Regionals is dictated by what happens or is decided at the Majors
Respect is a two way street, and call it what you will, but it's completely out of order to have one of your pilots at ASA threatening to use his Jumpseat as a weapon to bump mainline DAL pilots off of a passride because of his displeasure over certain DAL company policies.
Jumpseat wars are a messy, messy business and it usually never affects the people it intends to.

And people we are getting more out of the increased fees. Delta is now a Global airline. We now have the ability to non rev essentially anywhere in the world.
With this 2nd coming of the great depression people should be grateful they have a job and that our management saved our tails from fee per mile and per segment. But instead they're on ourasa whining like 2 year olds over 200 bucks when 80 people are about to hit the street......
