string682, stick it out at asa. your experience there is invaluable. when hawaiian hires, you will be competing with pilots from aloha (the original one), local 121/135 and south ramp guys. your mainland experience will differentiate your resume from others and your sacrifices there will be recognized by the chief pilot and d.o. thats what i did.

With 100+ still on furlough you can expect that there won't be any openings here any time soon. HNL is currently staffed but my understanding is that if people wanted it, they got it. There might be one opening out there and a guy that was in my newhire/recall group will likely bid it.

Thanks for the feedback, everything said kind of confirms what I already knew or suspected, the HNL numbers are small, and as “Pilotpip” said, any opening would eagerly (and rightfully) go any one of the 100+ pilots they currently have on the street. I was just trying to get a feel for the size and potential growth of the operation should the industry/economy ever begin too turn around in another year or two.
On a side note, back over the summer I was offered a job flying Caravans out of Hilo for Mokulele, but I turned it down. I figured the 121 experience I’m currently getting out of ATL would be better than any 135 experience between the Islands. I plan to stay put for now and hope things at Hawaiian open up in a couple of years.

hey string, during our recent hiring, there were regional pilots and a few had very little or no pic, and some with no jet time either. so it may not be long for you. word has it 60-100 pilot hirings starting this summer. good luck, i hope your connections are strong.

Another bit of food for thought for an individual hoping to work for Hawaiian in the future - the fraternal nature of the "real" island carriers is such that applications from mainland "invaders" such as the Mokulele and go! pilots are likely to be viewed in a negative light. Not saying it's right, but it'd be a point of concern for me. It's a tight-knit group, and there's a lot of anger to go around at the moment. Politics are rarely kind to the line pilot.

the loads were low because the travel agents whom Mokulele work with did not update there system with a E-170. So when 2 people show up to go on a caravan and they see a 70 seat jet, oops
loads have improved since that "small" glitch from what the dispatchers are teling me

Don't put Go and Mokulele in the same boat. That's an insult to our pilots.
