At Comair, only about 960 out of 1400 pilots are eligible. They had to be hired prior to December 2004.

I'd have to look again but it was a lot less than that qualified here .... But then again almost all the FO's are under 2 years longevitiy. If it doesn't get looked at and posted tomorrow I'll add up the numbers elligible and post it....

So everyone seems to have some type of different rumor on here. Pure speculation. I've heard the question asked...why did Delta/Mesaba give the same early retirement packages as Delta/Comair?
Easy answer. Because it has already been approved. There is no need to go back and waste time and money with attorneys to try and work up something new. Doesn't make any sense.

Because we pilots want so desperately to fly shiny (and preferably big) jets because we think will make 200K, have 18 days off and a fat pension to retire on with no bumps in the road along the way.
5% of us actually will, but the other 95% end up with donkey ears.
The Airline Pilot profession died about 7 years ago and was replaced with this. Try and enjoy what you have now, because it very well may be the highpoint of your tenure in this profession.

I'd be shocked to see more Than 10 pilots (out of almost 1200) take this early retirement.... This isn't anywhere close to the buyout offered to the Delta guys a year or two ago..... If Southwest hadn't suspended classes maybe some of those poolies would have taken it but then again if that were the case the company likely wouldn't be offering the early out...

JR came into my ground school class the day after they announced the 10 CRJ's were going to ASA and said we were 100 fat. 70 over in the Saab and 30 over in the CRJ.
He also said that before they even thought about furloughs they would be offering early retirements, LOA, and would be lowering the lines to 72-75 hours. So this early retirement thing is not a step towards merging airlines it's their response to the excess of pilots we now have. It just took them some time to come up with details of the early retirement...
