It seems most of the trashtalkers on here were hired during the hiring boom, and lack any seniority or experience. It's funny when FOs with 250 hours complain about how bad things are. You should have 4 times that in dual given.
I have issues when guys go to work for the alter-egos of already low paying (damn near criminal) commuter airlines. IE. no sympathy when they complain about it.

Go 400.
Peace out.

Mesa does not force you to share a room during ground school. Mesa pays you a 70 hour guarantee while in ground school.
I have a friend who failed SKY upgrade training. He was fired. When he got home a $1400 hotel bill was waiting for him.

Just when you thought Skywest could not get any worse.

So how much money does your single-occupancy hotel room put in your wallet each and every month? Maybe you can fantasize about it when you're sleeping on the airplane on a stand-up. I think SKW pays 65 hours in training, so if you got paid an extra 5 hours at mesa that would be what 10-15 hours of new hire pay? Put that in your savings account and deduct from it every time mesa works rules cause you to work without getting paid....see how long it lasts
Take into account work rules, pay scale (after year 1), bonuses, and benefits SKW pays about 40% more than mesa...yes I speak from experience.
Actually I do not recall getting paid guarantee at mesa until after the sim ride.
But I agree with you about the upgrade thing, I would change it if I could (yes, I voted for the union).

This is a ridiculous debate.
Maybe. That has never stopped me before.

SKW pay is higher than Mesa's for some seats at some years of longevity. How significant the difference is, lies in the eye of the beholder. I knew what the pay scale was when I came here, instead of SKW. You probably could have seen the pay scale before you come here if you had chosen to. Then you may have avoided your Mesa tour of misery.
I will fantasize about the shining day when pilots try to work together to solve problems facing the profession instead of arguing, "my regional can beat up your regional."
We get a hotel if we sit more than 4 hours, even in the middle of the day.

I am having trouble coming up with examples of how Mesa works me without paying me.

Well, I have no knowledge outside of the pay scales that APC posts. Certainly not a 40% difference there. In a purely subjective light; the vibe I get from Southwest folks is almost always upbeat and very positive, obviously with good reason. I do not see them spending lots of energy bloviating about how much some other airline sucks. They just seem glad to be where they are. I often wonder when a pilot from XXX regional is trying so hard to convince everyone that some other regional sucks, is he really trying to convince himself of something?

Hmmm...Seems to forget that Freedom and Mesa are ONE (all under ALPA)!!! At least the Mesa pilots pulled off what TSA did not do with %$Jet.
I know so many guys who were on the "Mesa" list who had thier Mesa ID's taken away from them, then they were issued Freedom ID's and put in Ground School to fly the same tail number they were flying the week prior.

And I was wondering why their stock closed UP 3 cents (at 11 cents) today. The money must have just gone through this afternoon. I really should ahve bought at 8 cents yesterday. 37% return on your money in 24 hours.
Just messing with all you Mesa people. I have some good friends over there. I wish the best for you guys and I wish NO pilot out of a job.

Ah, you mean the Del Ghetto. Ok, this will be the topic for my next "my regional is worse than yours" post entitled:
Housing at MAG, a trip down skid row.
I just did recurrent and took PHOTOS to share with you fine folks who need to know before you make your "informed" decision on where to apply. Unfortunately the roaches were camera shy, so I didn't get to snap a picture of ol' JOey. Next time... next time.

Oh, and:
I don't know what crack you've been smoking but pass the pipe my way, I need some escape. I have fought this battle, I don't know how many times and LOST every one. If it isn't the drugs, you must have some sweet connections in SOC- DS or BL? Nevertheless, you shouldn't be requesting this room anyhow, remember what the MEC just said: "Our company is in survival mode... This is occurring at a time when MAG’s unrestricted cash position continues to deteriorate."
Wow. It keeps getting better and better... if you worked a bid in JFK before Dec '08, you would have flown 80, credited 65 and gotten paid 70. This problem was systemic in ORD as well to my understanding.
