Default Open time

how much open time do you think needs to be picked up to cost someone a upgrade or to be recalled from furlough.
I flew with a captain this month who has already picked up 20 hours of open time. We are at min reserve coverage so im positive he cost me a upgrade. whats your thoughts on how much time is needed to cost someone a job?

I never commented on one's need or desire to fly open time, you never know what their situation may be. Health bills, or other type of expenses have to be covered, this may be the only way to make it happen.

Then on the other hand, when I saw folks just getting beer money, you get my point.

if your company staffs on total block hours it shouldn't matter. plus at my company there is such little open time I don't think it matters.

I have the opposite problem, usually plenty of open time, but so few days off that the thought of voluntarily showing up to work on one of them is out of the question.
